Heyas! I'm trying to get back online to try flying again but the Saitek X45 isn't cutting it for me and I really missing my CH analog HOTAS gear. However it doesn't work under XP.
I've tried the Bootdisk trick from over atthe CH Hangar but could not get my gear to work like it used to with Speedkeys under Win98. So I'm thinking of tossing in a second hdd and making a dual boot system.
Has anyone here done that? Had XP (Pro in my case) already on drive C: and then installed a 2nd drive for a different Windows OS (in my case it would be 98SE) If anyone has can they pass on any tips?
Thanks! Ken aka "Westy"

Hey westy
I recently helped a friend of mine setup a win98se/winxp dual boot.
The easy way is to install 98 FIRST!
Then when you install XP do NOT let it overwrite 98. But set it up as a seperate installation in a diff location.
The other alternative would be to swap hard drives. But then you have to manually go edit a couple of files to get the boot menu. Didn't look that hard to do actually.
I believe this is the site your looking for.

Best of luck

Thanks Ghosth. I think moving my drive with XP to slave and installing 98SE to a new master may do it. I hate like heck to "pooch the screw" on this though as I do not want to reformat and lose anything. I DO I appreciate the reply!

i run sort of the same ..
98 on 1st hd ... then xp on the second
i turn off the 1st hd in the bios and it boots to the xp drive then on start up .
note: the 98 hd wont read the xp hd if its been formated in ntfs it has to be 32bit ...
theres also a boot manager program you can get to that does basically the same thing .

"boot manager program you can get"
Got it! Comparing my options now. The last thing I want to do is reformat to put 98Se on 1st and then XP. I did find an explanation on how to add a 2nd HDD with 98Se on it while already operating XP but there are caveats...
Thanks Roscoroo.

Check out "System Commander" for an easy way.

Westy!
I'm running a dual boot on my single HD. Install win98 first. Then Win2K or XP. At Boot you have a choice of operating systems.
Werks fer me!

Hajo I think the problem was he already had XP loaded, and didn't want to wipe, reload.
He should still be able to do it, esp with 98SE on the second disk. Just need to edit 2 files or use a boot manager.

use 2 hds and cable switch the safest way.
