Send it back to the manufacturer.

A broken LCD is not covered by warranty.

What model?
you can look up the part number by model from HP's web site or take the lcd off and get the part number from the back. if you can get the part number off the lcd you can paste it in google and do a search for aftermarket parts.

I would guess a 15 inch would run from 250 up to 500 for a refurb or used and between 400 and 1000 for a new one.  But you might get lucky and find it cheaper if you dig.  They are not that hard to replace and you can probably do it yourself by downloading a parts pdf from the mfg website. The inverter (goes with the lcd) is very easily damaged by static so pay close attention and try not to handle it.

Generally speaking the replacement cost of an LCD is 75-90% the replacement cost of the laptop. In my book when they are broken it is time to buy a new laptop.

Is it still under warrenty?

If it is you may look into buying an upgraded one, that covers the screen.

If not ebay may be your best bet.

Look for a used creen,  Should be able to save you at least 50%

A new screen on most boxes will run you 400+  to buy new...

I just checked, the LCD on my laptop which I am using right now is nearly $2,000.00. It runs 1920X1200 though.
