Sorry if OT, but is anybody watching this special on Hist Chn. right now? holy cr*p! Awesome!!!!!!
If you missed it,,,,find when Hist chn runnin it again,,,great show
Edit: right now Bud Anderson is talking about a dogfight with a 109, (Bud in his Old Crow Pony B) and how the 109 lag rolled him, Bud felt he had more E and went vertical to try and rope him,,,,it worked,,,,,but the 109 was able to avoid the shot and attemped another reversal,,,,,Bud stayed saddled up this time and shot him down, they are using some game graphics to demonstrate all this, wow
its called-
Dogfights: The Greatest Air Battles
-
Poke around on the internet some, i have guncam footage from the day Bud shot down 109s.
-
It sucked...
It didn't show any of 'The Greatest Air Battles' it just animated some of the most popular fights/stories of a few Ami pilots...
-
why wouldn't it? it's an American show. what were you expecting? Marseilles nailing 17 P40's with one loadout flying a single pop gun 109F gelbe 14? I was going to stay up and watch it at midnight but decided against it.

Thanks, I will look for this. I have a home video of Bud Anderson telling some great dogfighting stories. He adds the detail that I think only a pilot, or sim pilot would understand :)

Looks a LOT like Wotan in shades to me.
WTF is with this "Ami" B.S. anyway? Would it kill you to type "American' or something? Got some sort of problem with the words America or American? Can't show a little respect for U.S. fighter pilots? If nothing else it shows your bias for sure. And makes you look like Wotan or his minime.
-
Yeah, my money says it's Wotan. I'll give 2 to 1 odds too.
Never figured him as a guy that would use a shade though. Stranger things have happened I guess.
-
WTF? Cant a guy ask if anyones watched a good tv show without it becoming all political and crap? AHHHHHHHH WTF ?!!!!!!! Im sick of the freakin pre-school we have running here!!!
The show was really good btw.

Wotan/Batz/Helvik all the same dude.

Yep, was very cool. Its was worth watching just to hear the pilots tell their stories.

The issue here is with the title of the program "Dogfights: The Greatest Air Battles" and only using American pilots and battles.
You have to understand that America has a habit of making out they do everything on their own, and they are the best at everything. To non Americans this can be very annoying as it basically degrades their contribution to whatever is being covered.
We get a lot of American history programmes/films here and they always seem to only look at everything from an American perspective, which is why the younger generations of Americans tend to believe that they won WWII on their own. THIS is why non Americans get aggrivated by things such as this.
Now, dont jump on my back, i am just trying to help you see from others' perspective, it didn't bother me at all as i have come to accept it.

I wasn't trying to make it political FiLtH. Wotan and his "Ami" thing with his revisionist B.S. about the war just rubs me the wrong way. He lives here in the U.S. and has no respect at all for the guys who put it all on the line so he has the freedoms he enjoys. He has this thing about having to denigrate U.S. pilots and planes, his basic premise seems to be the Allies were a no talent horde with second rate planes and the Axis was a valiant but small group of heroes in superior planes overwhelmed by the swarm.
I can respect the Axis pilots, I can't respect the side they flew for.
I give them credit for being great pilots, I don't think they were all dyed in the wool Nazis, I don't have to or want to denigrate them or disrespect them personally in every discussion either.
Yeah Toad, I think we nailed it. The "Ami" thing, the fact that the show sucked because it made the U.S. pilots look good, the position that the "Ami's" weren't in the great air battles, and the Florida location. It's Wotan in shades, or he has a well trained minime.
-
Wasnt directed at you Sav, just a basic outburst. Furball, I understand what you are saying. You have to understand that most Americans if even a little interested in history, dont want to spend much time on the details. Its rather fast paced over here.
Those of us interested in history, like myself, probably saw the title and thought to themselves, "Hey it really should be called Greatest American Dogfights". But we realize they just go for a more generalized approach to it. Seeing a show called Greatest Polish Dogfights, nothing against the polish (who had a number of great pilots), it just doesnt grab the attention of the average American viewer, who pictures Yeager-like pilots screaming around in P51s. These people who make these shows arent making an official document. They are making something they want alot of people to watch. Its all about the money.
For what its worth, I know and appreciate all the efforts put forth by all the allies of ww2, and respect the skill of the germans and japanese. That said..lets just watch what the movie makers put in front of us and either enjoy it for what it is.

It was an American program. What, we're supposed to paint a picture of the enemy awash in glory?
You're missing the point here. This isn't about the rest of the Allies not getting enough credit Furball, and Wotan IS in the U.S., he's in Florida. We're talking about a guy who LIVES in the U.S. who has zero respect for the pilots from the country he lives in. He's not pissed about the rest of the Allies getting the short end in the show, he's pissed because it didn't show the fabulous Luftwaffe in all its glory. They were the ENEMY you know. They fought for one of the most evil groups of people ever. Again, I'm not saying now, nor have I ever said, they were all dyed in the wool Nazis. I didn't say they weren't great pilots, I never said they didn't have great planes either. But they were on the wrong side, and they lost. Wotan has this tremendous need to denigrate the U.S. pilots to attempt compensate. I have admiration and respect for the German pilots and their planes as well. I admire them for their skill, talent, and loyalty, DESPITE their being on the wrong side. The same goes for the Japanese.
This ain't the Main Arena we're talking about, this is the real world.
I'm not jumping on you at all. Every country makes its movies and television shows primarily about its own, thats human nature. No one would say a damned thing about the British movie companies or the BBS making 95% or more of their movies or TV shows about British pilots. Few of us over here would give it a second thought. Sure, the British, the French, the Polish, the Australians, and even the Russians don't get a big share of the story here. But the U.S. doesn't get the biggest share of it over there either.
-
Anyway I think we should all thank Ben Aflek for his outstanding contribution to the defeat of the enemy of democratia !
:p
-
Why did I know that in a thread about people not getting history right, Ben Affleck's name would come up.
-
So where did Wotan say that he "has no respect at all for the guys who put it all on the line so he has the freedoms he enjoys"?
Or heck, has Wotan even posted in this thread at the first place? You got any proof to back up that Bruno is Wotan, which he very well may be, and equally as much may be not?
It's classical - the knee-jerk reactions to anything that might draw even the mildest shade on your blind patriotism. Bruno thought the show sucked and the title did not match the contents - and just by saying that, now he is submitted to an open criticism from the self-proclaimed "House of Unamerican Acts Represantitives of Aces High Boards"[/b], under accusation of being un-American, un-patriotic, and using a false account which lies totally on speculation alone.
And then it quickly proceeds to Wotan-bashing, in a thread which (seemingly) he didn't comment a single word about.
You guys are unbelievable.
What's next? Light a torch, get the shotgun and the noose, and start hanging the next 'revisionist' who disagrees to your ideas?
-
I thought the show was rather mediocre, as are most programs on the History Channel. WTF do you expect for the water'd down junk they show? The only thing interesting to me (as usual) was hearing the actual participants accounts, not the CGI reenactment.
American or not though, you could not have a show about "Greatest" air battles and not have Randy "Duke" Cunningham's fights in there.

Thats the difference in cultures though that i was describing in my last post, the British tend to downplay their accomplishments as if 'not to brag' and give a varied approach to show the whole picture.
With all due respect, it says a great deal about the majority of the target audience's intelligence if they are only concerned with their country's accomplishments. Either that, or as i have said, it is due to the difference in cultures.
(i know i am treading a fine line here.. but..) Freedom of speech and all that, why shouldnt Wotan try to make more Americans aware of the accomplishments of the LW pilots? it may well be these programmes and American history books have glorified the accomplishments of American pilots to much more than they actually achieved? and made the LW pilots out to be turkey's?
Again, please dont shoot the messenger.

Point of Order:
My earlier post only addresses my belief that Bruno is Wotan in shades and that I'm suprised he feels the need for a shade.
Anything else read into it is going on solely in the mind of the reader. For example, if Kewassa is referring to me in his above post, it's all in his mind because I certainly did not say anything remotely like that.
Carry on.
-
Not to be cruel but... The show seemed that Americans invented the "art of dogfighting" :D Other countries contributed too. I don't care if the show extended to 6 hours as long as it incluided the best dogfights from other counties.
What's missing in that show (some samples)
Marseilles - Marseilles made himself invisible by flying solo against 10 P-40s in Africa. He shot many of them down. He's the greatest dogfighter hands down had he live loonger. He also stressed teh importance of working out to increase G tolerances.
Eastern Front: Russians - NONE was mentioned. I understand the researchers have to go all the way to Russia, hire translators, pay transportation costs, ect ect. The budget for this program is gonna be expensive.
The brits: they suffered the same fate, nothing mentioned.
-
Anyway Touchy's CG looks WAY BETTER!!!:furious
:D
PS Touchy is the guy who created "1942" and "1945" mini films.

I disagree, i believe Albert Ball or Werner Voss from the first world war were, they were the "i will take on any formation you have to throw at me" pilots. Unless you are referring to WWII only?
"Dogfighting" on a large scale wasnt as common after 1918. Wasnt it said that 90% of a/c in WWII were shot down where the pilot didnt see his enemy?
-
Jeez you guys gotta lighten up a bit.
Now your grumbling that the title of a TV show didn't spell it out exactly for you?
LOL amazing. I like to keep the remote next to me so that if the show isn't what I like I can just turn the channel :)
-
You guys think that was the whole show?
Two hours showing just American air heroes?
I think not.
My bet is that it's a long series and the episode they aired yesterday was just about American pilots hairiest fights.
I'm thinking there is more to come that will consentrate on other countries finest pilots air combat feats in their turn.
My guess is British air combat heroes next.
-
It was pretty cool / interesting, got it on tape. ;)
All you anti-American crybabies can KMA. :lol

or some of the very last pure gunfighter furballs in Korea.
-
I saw alot earlier in the show that showcased the germans having alot to do with the concept of air combat. The 8 rules of air combat they showed for example. I recommend other countries make their own shows, and give their point of view. I do hope their are more of these shows to come. Id like to see some Pacific stuff. However, from Korea on, with the exection of the Israelis, I cant think of another country, more involved with air combat than the US.
-
I only caught it from the dogfight of Col. Tom and "Duke" Cunningham/"Willie" Driscol. I've read the Cunninghams exerpt that's in Shaw's book, our "Bible", and I'm very happy to say that it matched up pretty good.
I"ll have to check the show out from the beginning. As for all the politicalness of this...I'm an old Air Warrior and it doesn't matter who a pilot is or where he's from. I respect all pilots that put their lives on the line, using only their skills to do battle in skies.
That's what's AH should be all about...being a unique group of individuals that have an affinity for historic aircraft, combat skills, and the pilots that participated, regardless of their political affiliations.
So enjoy that program for what it is...and learn from it:) There were lots of good pointers presented too.

That show sucked.
It matters little to me how "insulted" the Ami lynch mob feigns to be.
It didn't show the 'Greatest Air Battles' of any nation. It just showed those that are 'popular' or well 'known'. There are 1000 other 'great dogfights' I can think of that not only include Ami pilots but others as well from many different eras.
The show wasn't entertaining, or informative or particularly well 'animated'. I have seen better just searching the net.
It gets a big fat .
The Vietnam era dogfight of Col. "Duke" Cunningham/ "Willie" Driscol. certainly qualified as a "Great Dogfight" the problem with that show is they throw in stuff like the last Mig-17 Duke and Willie downed "could have been the famed Colonel Toon". No such guy existed and any bit research in preparing for that a show would have shown that.
Its was a poorly put together program.
-
I saw the show and liked it
saw it at 8pm est and out of my 500 cable channels, I think it was the best program on the air at the time :)

i thought it was great..god forbid americans salute their countrymen in this day and age. I lived in europe for 3 years and I have never seen as many patriotic flag wearing people as i did in the netherlands..they have an image of us as Jerry Springer lovin rednecks...Europeans look down their nose at us as we cheer for our country while they are more nationalistic than anyone. Dont worry though we will be there..AGAIN... when you need us.

The Longest Day. seemed to have quite a few Brits in it.
Bridge over the river Quie (sp?)
Few orthers Im thinking of off the top of my head but I cant remember the names of now.
But most movies I have seen usually have at the very least a token Brit or aussie in em.
but what do you expect? These are American movies made for an american audiance.
I havent seen to many brit movies showing Americans.
One could easily think the same thing about Brit movies.

What's up with all this "American Bashing" crap just 'cuz the show only showed dogfights with American pilots?
Where were all the complaining types a few months ago when they showed the series about the Battle of Britain and the Spitfire, and had the competition where one lucky guy got 10 hours of training in a 2-seater Spitfire? Did anybody happen to notice that the 4 final candidates were BRITISH only? How unfair is that? Did the Brits forget about the Americans who were helping them out suring the Battle of Britain in the Eagle Squadrons? What about all the lend-lease help?
See what I mean - nobody complained about that, but let an American company make a show that only shows American-involved dogfights, and all the PC crybabies come out of the closet.
Ok, I'll be quiet now and go back to watching from the sidelines.....

We Americans dont mind that sort of thing as much.
After all they are only Brits:D

When I watch an American television station, broadcasting a program(me) produced by Americans, for Americans, (and I'm no rocket scientist either), I am in no way whatsoever expecting a fully accurate, comprehensive history and rendering of every legendary, relevant, or epic air battle ever fought, including pilots and anecdotes from all countries, in a 2 hour segment.. If you expect the above to come from the TV in America, you might be stupid.
Anyway, what did they use to render the CG bits? That was some damn fined looking stuff.
-
hehehe mo..cheap shot but i like it :P I would like to know what program or game was used in the graphics as well.

As a FYI, it next airs on Saturday October 22, 2005 at 5:00pm on the History Channel.

That was also true to a large extent in WW1 and Korea as well. Aces often related about closing to very close range on the unsuspecting before opening fire. The unwary were almost always the ones who payed the price.
-
It’s a freakin TV show. It’s not like an official government entity sat down and decided to censor all the other stories out. Lighten up.
Someone can’t just post about a great show can they? All the American bashers have to come out of the woodwork.
To those America bashers: If you hate America so much, stop sending your 14.95/month to Texas and go away.
It’s just funny how much time some people put in to hating us. It has always been a dream of mine to visit Europe (and many other places). It’s just sad that when I go, I will have to research what regions will hate me, and which ones won’t. I don’t imagine that the average European would have to worry about that if they came to America.
People are people….even us uneducated, smug, Americans.

You have a blinding talent for making people who likes Americans and has many American friends, suddenly begin to rethink the American attitude in regards to the typical snobbiness.

The show was ok and the graphics they had were top notch. They did mention a Luftwaffe Pilot named Otto Kittel or something like that, they mentioned he died , I catched the later half of the show ,with the Korean war vet.
Don't expect much from the History channel it's to history what Mcdonald's is to food, it's just for ratings.
So whatever it's a friggin show. Go jerk the turkey and drown the sausage, and get on with life....Beotches! :D

They did mention a Luftwaffe Pilot named Otto Kittel
Otto 'Bruno' Kittel... Staffelkapitän 2./JG54 - 267 kills credited and top FW experte
Shot down / killed - luftkampf w.
Il2s in Kurland
Otto Kittel took off to intercept a flight of Russian Il-2 Sturmovik ground-attack aircraft over Dzukste, Kurland. Witnesses say that Kittel dove into a formation of eight of the ground-attack aircraft. He damaged one but it did not go down, instead, disappearing back over the Russian lines, on fire and in serious trouble. Kittel’s Fw 190 A-8 (W.Nr. 960 282) “Black 1” was hit by return fire from the other Il-2s and burst into flames. The aircraft plummeted to earth, trailing a long sheet of flame and smoke, where it crashed. Otto Kittel had no chance to take to his parachute.

Just out of curiosity, why is it that so many of you are reluctant to put your location in your profile? It would be interesting to have a better idea of who we Americans are offending. Is it just being overly "Internet cautious" or is it because you do not want people to know? I think it's great to "discuss" things with people from different places.

"Americans" aren't offending. It is a certain "American", or "one or two Americans" who turned this thread into the crap-barge it is now, and I find it highly interesting the way you automatically prefer the term "we Americans" and associate it as if it was your own matter, which, it is not.
Most people here including me had no beef with any of the Americans or their dinky TV shows in the first place.
Then someone mentions that he didn't like the show because it only showed American pilots.... and then suddenly all hell breaks loose. Accusations of disrespectfulness, unpatriotic behavior, unthankfulness, using shade accounts, begin to fly from those few people. And then those guys suddenly start personal attacks and name-calling to any who might show differing opinions in this matter. Totally uncalled for. If anything might get people banned or moderated in a BBS thread for bad conduct, I'm seeing such stuff in here.
So how would you expect anyone to "discuss" anything in this kind of blatant hostility? Just because someone didn't like a show, or others thought it emphasized too much stuff on only one country?
I wouldn't know. Do you?

Here`s an idea.
When the repeat of this show comes on.....turn it on if you are interested. Don`t turn it on if you are not.
If you start watching it and it gets boring, uninteresting or doesn`t set well with your anti-American sentiment....turn the sucka off.

I guess you are directing this at me as well, since I called Wotan on the shades account, and I really just don't like the way he disrespects a certain group of people, some of whom happen to be friends of mine. I find you to be incredibly amusing, sad, but amusing. That fact that you are "offended" (cry me a river) doesn't bother me at all. I spoke my mind. Go sit wherever it is you are (that you are so proud of that you don't tell anyone about it) and whimper about being offended.

He said the show sucked, and used "Ami", Wotan's pet term of disrespect and disdain for U.S. pilots. I called him on it, if you don't like that, well, that's just too bad. It most likely IS Wotan in a shades account, acts like him, posts like him, uses his favorite terms and attitude, and the same location. By the way, I see you still didn't answer the question about YOUR location. Figures. If you have to use a shades account, or you can't post your location, I guess you must have "issues".
So how would you expect anyone to "discuss" anything in this kind of blatant hostility? Just because someone didn't like a show, or others thought it emphasized too much stuff on only one country?
I wouldn't know. Do you?
Wotan, or his minime, started the hostility. He implies there were no great air battles shown because there were no "Amis" (theres his favorite term of disdain and disrespect again) in any great air battles, and said the show sucked because it showed only "Amis". Evidently he didn't even SEE the whole thing because there were others besides the "Amis" shown and mentioned. I really find his use of the term and his manner to be very annoying, since I know some of those "Ami" pilots personally, they are my friends. I don't take kindly to his attitude towards my friends. If you don't like that, well that's just too damned bad. If you don't like me calling him on that, well that's just too damned bad too. If you want to cry about hostility, start with the clown who started it. All I did was call him on it. While you're at it, grow a pair and tell us all where you're from. Unless, of course, you're too ashamed to tell the truth.
-
Actually Savage I think you are wrong , after knowing Wotan since about 4 year and having strong (pleonasm :D) discussions with him I can't think he is the kind of people using a shade account.
In fact the only think I'm sure of is you own him an apology.
-
I agree with straffo wotan probably would not use a shade account. It would be out of character.
-
Here's an idea; let's ask him.
Bruno, are you Wotan?
Simple yes or no will do.
Thanks!

by asking if he is wotan, you are assuming he is american. why do you americans always think others are americans and america is best. why didnt you ask if he was any other nationality..
:D

I have pretty good reason to believe he is Wotan, that's why.
I'm only asking a simple question and nationality really doesn't bear on that.
But if he WAS Amurriken, I'm sure he'd be the mostest, bestest, shadiest shade evar.
:)

I'm sorry but I must say (with all my respect) that it's the definition of a french citizen ...

Well... ok.. it's not my matter.
But you never answered the question.

Uhh, because he listed his location as Florida, USA?
He's from the same general location as Wotan, uses Wotan's patterns and mannerisms, and doesn't even deny being Wotan.
But what the Hell, I'm just a stupid American, what would I know?

I know where you are Straffo... you are one of the more interesting posting types here and you have always had your location listed. I'm just curious about all the others who don't. I'm just wondering what the reason might be. I don't see anything wrong with doing it... I don't think anyone will hunt me down here in Sunny Florida....though it might be interesting if they did.

Wotan=Batz=Helvik=Wotan. What didnt you understand the first time I said it?

In Straffo's defense, he likes to think the best of people, even me sometimes. Also, considering the difference in language, he might not spot a shades account as easily as some do. Straffo is an okay guy, we've had our differences, but he's alright. Even if he is French.:D

Wasnt intendeed harsh to Staffo, even if he is French:aok

And why is it that so many are eager to put their location in the profile? Like it matters? Maybe they don't put it because of stereotypes? Like if you're from FL you don't know how to vote?

I've read that it was 3/4 or 4/5 (25% and 20%) figures. Actually, I doubt anyone has the exact statistics.

The one who shot them down do though =) Still to get exact figure you need to analize 1000s forms from all war theaters.

I'm sick of people consistantly playing this stupid America vs the world rubbish.
get over it or come and destroy our countries so you can claim you are the worlds greatest nation.
America: if you're gunna remain our allies, then stop with this crap.
Everyone else: unless you plan on waging a terrorist war against America, then stop with all the anti-US rubbish
we are all friends and though we may disagree, we are fighting for the same ideals.
And Morpheus, for a smart lad your're not showing us that there is much acitivty in that head of yours

Heh... that's pretty lame dude. I'm the first one to jump on the "we can't vote" bandwagon. You can't actually tell me you are worried that someone will make fun of you based on a stereotype? Why would you care? Is your psyche that easily dented? If all I wanted was to do was to make fun of you then I'd make some jokes regarding the actual size of your "horn"... 2"Horn or something along those lines. Would you get all bent out of shape? I REALLY just want to know because I'm interested. I mean, if you are in the witness protection program or something then fine by me.....but If I'm talking to someone then I'm interested in their perspective and from whence it comes. I'm not looking for ammo to hurl at you.

actually we vote just fine in my beloved florida. perhaps those northern transplants that move here to die should be suspected of continuing bad habits. the problem we had in 2000 is that the democratic party continues to believe that the ends justifies the means. john kennedy was elected in 1960 in a close election where democratic voter fraud was thinly veiled. richard nixon, to his great credit chose not to pursue the issue for the good of the nation unlike the shameful al gore. once internet al decided to whine the richard daley chicago/boss tweed tammany hall new york method of vote counting happily kicked in to oblige. the 2000 election was a triumph for the people. a breif respite from limp wristed national government. furthermore it openly exposed how far out of touch with the common citizen the elitist democratic party has become.

Ahh this is the part where im supposed to ba ashamed of my country and not say anything pro-american. These threads seem to indicate only a "few" Americans are obnoxious therefore validate all claims that we are flag toating warmongers..I never suggested anything having to do with "destroying" other countries and taking them over? Where did that come from? I think ive earned the right to be proud of our country and its feats. Mechanic that attitude is exactly what i didnt like about SOME Europeans..as soon as I even mentioned I was from the U.S. i got the rolling of the eyes and the same look from people..You know the one that sums up exactly who I am because Im from the U.S.. I was expected to lower my head in shame for some reason. My remarks were pointed at a few individuals..I dont understand the attack from you but I expect it came with you rolling your eyes while typing.

:rofl Relax dude. I was just giving you an example how some get all stiffy about such things. You could be from Botswana for all I care. I just think that majority doesn't care to fill in the form their location because is not a requirement. It's also not so darn difficult to ask where the gal/guy is from. Or is it?
Now back to the topic. Show did suck, but, unless somebody comes out with better one, that's all we got. Whinning here won't make it better. Complain to the show producers if you have to, but spare us with all that crap. Ya don't like it, turn off the TV and fly AH.

no way dude, we're friends, you know that. I dont want to argue i just strongly disareed with what i bolded on your post (Dont worry though we will be there..AGAIN... when you need us.)
i think on reflection you didnt really need to add that.
i didnt roll my eyes at you and i thought that smilie was like a crazy guy, all drunk or something.
see
i would look down on anyone who wasnt patriotic to something. If i dont judge people like you think i do, honestly. alot of my family and friends live in the states. in canada, new england, cousin in new york, and a couple in richmond, virginia
i wasnt attacking you, i just thought your comment wasnt very well thought out unless you wanted an objection posted.
i dont want anyone to feel shame for anything that they dont deserve, to my knoledge no people can be held accountable for anything untill they have been met face to face and prooven guilty of a crime, so why would i judge you.
i just thought your statement was evocative of my reply, unless i am to feel shame for my nationality?
its bad enough having to take all the teeth jokes and and other slurs not to have our pride hit also.
alot of you yanky doodle dandys dont take too kindly to america jokes do you now. :D
edit: and honestly, if anyone from europe gave each other the 'look' when they met an American, then they we're part of the same moronic population that makes up an equal part of any first world nation.

FYI "Ami" is a German nick for an american.
As for great dogfights there were many long lasting ones in the BoB.
I'd like to see hmmm, Malan versus Mölders? Or Galland versus R.S.Tuck.
Or T.E.Jonsson versus 2 109's in his first combat mission :D

I believe this is a thread about a TV show. It's the history channel... Made and produced in the US. Yes all know that the "enemy" had great pilots. In fact, pilots had alot of respect for each other no matter what side they were on! You can continue this extraneous point-counter point line of thinking all day. Oh, and it has NOTHING to do with getting history right or wrong. Go watch the show and get back on subject.
