Yeah I know there are lots of ways to have fun in AH2.
I had one of those trips tonight. Someone posted a mission. I caught something about B24s escorted by 51s in the text buffer and after getting mugged a bunch, figured what the heck, even though I've not flown a 51D in AH2.
Turns out it was going to be a long range escort. Nothing on the deck, but 24s going long with 51s escorting. As someone said mid flight, hopefully ToD will be something similar.
Anyway, there were 6 Mustangs or so and a bunch of 24s. 4 of us in the 51s swept ahead and mixed it up a bit with the interceptors, while doing our best to protect the buffs. Boozer, who was flight lead kept telling us to stick with the bombers. The 51s were flying good cover for the buffs and each other, although the baduns had time to get planes in position to hit the buffs and we lost a few. The buffs dropped though and headed for home while we in the 51s tried to keep them clear outbound. The fight went from 20K to the deck but the buffs got clear the the 51s knocked down 8-10 bad guys for 1 loss.
On the way back the 51s formed up and then broke for landing before putting down.
I was totally sucked into it. It was one of those where folks worked together and you felt like you were really in the cockpit, at least as much as my imagination will allow me. Well over an hour flight time I think and down safely with 2 kills and missing one main wheel.
Great fun..one in a million, and no gaming the game with suicide buffs or fighters :)

Thought the screenshot turned out kinda nice. Has that on the way to Germany, summer of 44 feel to it.

Those were the times:p Errr last time i flew in a mission like that (p51d's 24's 17's) I ended up in a 17 got whipped by 50 nites. That was fun (was last bombers on mission) :o I love being escorts tho.

And the one fighter loss was a dweeb who augered in trying to clear a 109 off of Boozer's six. Only good thing was I was blacked out, er.. HE was blacked out when he hit. So I, dangit.. HE didn't have to watch it.
Appologies to the LA I shot down while he was AFK. You were climbing out in the wrong sector buddy. Ya just never know when a flight of 20k+ Mustangs might be escorting buffs through.
AND WE NEED MORE MUSTANG SKINS. PREFERABLY 8th AF D Model Skins! 4th FG would do nicely.

Fencer augering? :) I think he filmed it. Most of us had the film going for the mission. The 51s were out front a a ways from the 24s for a bit though.

Would be cool if someone could send me one film from the 24's and one from the 51s. make a nice tod sorta trailer film.

Maybe some film can be had in Close Escort today. I'm hoping to make the show myself, and fly with CorkyJR and his bunch.

The offer stands regardless. If you guys can get some good film to me from both eyes.. the bombers and the fighters i would do something "tasteful" with it. If not no problem.

i participated in some great missions when i played in MA, just takes some extra imagination, and turning off enemy icons so that american plane turns into an LW plane:)
its enoying when you have a nice semi historical fight going, and some odd plane type gets in the mix killing the imersion.
I try not to attack planes that belong to the same historical side im flying for, so if i have the choice to jump a p51 while flying a p47, or a 109 ill go for the lw plane.

I have reviewed the film in question, and revise my claims to 3 kills in lieu of 2. It seems that I did get that 109 that was on Boozer's six before my untimely dunking.

Were you with Boozer last night at V50? Seems I pistoff a bunch of Rook 51 drivers there by killing their goon (actually, it was the 2nd one that I killed :)) and was mercilessly thrashed by about 3 or 4 of them. :)

Alas, no. I was unable to fly last night. I do hope you were perferated by numerous 50cals in my absence.
