A great picture with even a better scenario :aok

The damage on the P-38 seems abit photo-shopped though?

"The damage on the P-38 seems abit photo-shopped though?"

Hit sprites blocking out the fuselage?

P.S. Note:

The untouched photo has the actual sun positioned right behind the vertical stab of the 47N, so the image was very washed out to begin. The hit sprites mask a majority of the 38 - I tried to clean it up and make it a higher contrast but there wasn't much that could be done. I'll try to post the unaltered shot in a few.

It could be one of Dan's P-38s, notice the bits and pieces leaving the aircraft?  Its one of his tactics,  his plane disintegrates and reassembles on your six to shoot you down.  He's got the disintegration part down, he's still working on the reassembling part

Not nearly close enough to the sun to be AKAK

Good point.

The sun is always below AKAK.

Alright, I have to ask, are you ACTUALLY able to guess who is the P-38 pilot in that picture, and even be correct? If so, what gives away some the more famous P-38 pilots?

Well, if there's another P-38 and I can't shoot it down, it's probably either Murdr or Ack-Ack.

Actually, the number of possible pilots is rather low.  The fact that the P-38 is actively maneuvering, and also doing so in the vertical, shows that the pilot in question flies the P-38 as a fighter and knows what kind of maneuvers the P-38 is best at.  I really don't know many people who fly the P-38 unless they're hauling big ordnance.

I could see where you'd think that cause whoever it is, has been using the CorkyJr P38 flying and dying handbook.  But it's an L so it can't be me :)

If it was a 38G there'd be no question.
