Was just wondering why the framed canopy instead of the Erla Hood.
-
Because 109G-6 is a 1943 aircraft, and and 109s at that time had framed canopy similar to 109G-2.
expect ERLA HAUBE canopy for Bf-109G-14 and Bf-109K-4
-
The G10s had em too...
-
G-6 (late '43 erla haube and tail wooden tail) had them as well... In fact unless you know what to look for a G-6 (late) and G-14 are almost identical.
-
HTC should give this G6 the clear glass head armor, many G6 had this even with the heavy framed canopy.
-
Yep, the rear armor glass was introduced after a few months of the G-6 production start, in August `43. And it would be really interesting combo, old canopy + glass head armor. There are many photos of such planes.

Even in my limited library, I can find several photos of G-6s with the Erla Hood and one source saying it (hood) was introduced in late 1943. I was always under the impression the G6 was common both ways. I just tend to look at things in light of the MA. The G-6 is already a bit behind the power curve there, so why take any more away?
-
Not everything hinges on the MA.
In this case I think it hinges on ToD.
Still, Kurfurst's idea is an interesting one. Make it halfway between the Bf109G-2's and Bf109K-4's canopy. I really hope we get the Bf109G-14.
Delerium,
The Bf109G-10 is being removed from AH and replaced with the Bf109K-4.

By giving it the early hood, HTC can say that it is more representative of the early model, and any "gap filler" we get between the G6 and the K4 (and there has been some discussion) would be more representative of a '44 plane.
This is just another way of putting planes "in their place" so that if/when they are needed for a scenario they are the best fit for that scenario.

IMO if the bulk of them had reararmoured glass then....................
A G14 seems to be the most appropriate 44 variant between G6 and K4 and would have the later hood.
-
Like ppl have mentioned, probably has a lot to do with ToD.
