I only had a small, poor quality, b&w photo to work from and could not tell if the windshield and canopy frames where OD or bare metal. Anyone have any input?

:noid Nice skin do another model now:huh

Nice skin. The green is kind of "forest green" on my monitor; intentional?

Looks good. But I may suggest making the canopy lines metal just to add a little definition. Otherwise, it looks good.

Richard Turner wrote a pretty good book about his wartime experiences as a P51 pilot with the 354th. It's called "Big Friend, Little Friend-Memories of a World War II Fighter Pilot"
Image of his P51B from his book. Profiles are from Ospreys book on 9th & 15th Air Force Aces
His P51D was originally Short Fuse Sallee, but Sallee disappeared from the nose art after the real Sallee sent him the dreaded "Dear John" letter.

beautiful skin machnix
judgin from the blackand white pic only the malcom hood is metal the rest is olive drab
also regular german crosses like on the p51d profile would look better than x's on the kill markings I think

TDeacon;
The green's base color started with an RGB value of 94, 92, 70. By the time it gets weathered, has some dirt and oil add, gets reduced to 256 colors, goes through the material.txt file, has a screen shot saved to a jpeg, and then viewed through a different monitor, who knows what the color really is anymore. I did lighten the green some so see if it looks better to you.

Thanks for the images and info. They helped with the sizing and placement of the nose art, and the canopy frame.
Citabria;
Agree about the iron crosses. Wasn't sure how obvious the X's were going to be until the screen shot.
