Title: Bomber but not bombers
Post by: Gigg on September 25, 2005, 09:20:40 AM
I got to say I have recently lost much respect for many of the bomber pilots (esp. b24s) I see so many times that any cv will be automaticaly attacked by bombers, which is fine but then after they drop their bomb load they disco. What garbage .. this seems to be a standard tactic for all sides. Well ok get your points, etc etc for me I think they are all scums no matter what team. I know nothing will change and they wont change the code to punish these people. I just want to say it takes away from the game so much.

With respect,

Gigg formaly AH 101 Isreal. WB 4th FG.

Before you go and accuse them all of being llamas, do some checking. People have been complaining of a bug where they drop their bombs at alt, wait, and wait, and get no messages, then get a flood of messages all at once (including hit/damage messages) and then they are disconnected.

It's a bug.

I have seen one player do the drop then bail repeatedly.  You can tell hes bailing beacuse first the lead plane goes spiraling down then the drones in sequence.  IIRC when someone discos they just disappear(and no proxies for those in range).

Being an avid virtual buff pilot myself, if I choose not to take the time to fly back to my base right away, I will take my B26's down low and see how many fighters I can drag off with me.  Fine if I get killed, (and a big <> to the good buff killers in this game),  but even better if I can carry home a few kills.  I do agree however it is rather cheesy to drop, miss, and bale right away.

I like it when they bail.

They earn a death.

They receive only 10% of the points they could have if they landed.

It saves me bullets for the next guy.

Take some time to enjoy the many views along the scenic routes when returning to base. Admire the breathtaking view of the ocean. Travel along an area where  the native forest meets the estuaries. You may catch a glimpse of terns, hawks, cranes, warblers and sparrows as they migrate across the map.Or gaze downward over the plains where you can see cowboys eating baked beans around a campfire .
Fly over Shawshank Prison and peer down into the prison courtyard where ant-like prisoners scurry toward the fenced-in arrival area to gawk and jeer while the new arrivals disembark. Before you realize where all the time has gone, a enemy plane is on your six and its time to go to work again !!

Well, with all the bombing I've done over the years in AH, I don't think I've seen these scenarios very often.  Not to say that it doesn't happen, as I have seen a dump and disco just a couple nights ago.  I just advise against making a mass accusation.

Keep in mind there are several reasons for somebody to auger their mission before being able to RTB. These are events that are critical enough to demand your darn-near-immediate presence, yet negotiable enough to be allow for that drop on target you've spent the last 15 minutes climbing and calibrating for.

Specific reasons: ( no specific order )
1. Wife Ack. 'Dinner's ready'...
2. Squadron commitment. ( CO has called a regroup and has allowed you to drop your ordnance before augering to rejoin them ) I've had to ask other squad members to do this exact thing.. and they did, once they dropped their ord.
3. Legitimate lost host connection
4. Dump and Disco
5. Phone call from work, friends, extortionist

So there are 5 of the reasons to explain why somebody would intentionally disco/auger after dropping their ord.  Of those, there is one,  #4, I would classify as the gripe that started this thread.

If you see the same small group of people doing it over and over again, then please note it is a small group of people.

The vast, vast, vast majority of bomber missions I have flown in over the years have had all bomber pilots making the maximum effort to RTB.. even after HQ raids and having to cross 4 sectors.

Don't condemn us all for the actions of a few.

Honestly its not just bombers. I see this scenario most often from jabos -- they pork, then bail to get the next run quickly. I did a lot of porker interceptions a few tours ago, not really caring about the real estate but just wanting to get some fights. More than half the time, the porkers would extend jus far enough that they didnt give up a proxy, and then bailed.

Yes, since most seem to do it in doras thats a manuver I lovingly named the "Dorker" Dora-pork-auger:)

funny i kill multiple CVs daily in b24s and Lancs and never get this bug.  id bet i sink avg of 70 to 100 CVs per tour.  i do see plenty bail after drop, or after they miss trying to dive bomb with buffs.

I'm so tired of NOE suicide bombers who take off from under attack fields, go noe, then drop tons of bombs at random and often blow up with their bombs....I agree its good 5 inch or 40mm kills, but when the guy just comes back 10 times in a row its kindof anoying.

From what I saw only a few pilots are able to do precise drops with bombsite, most of em don't even watch their speed indicator !

they are just FPS killers and now when I spot brainless bombers I just ignore them.

some pple actually do NOE missions with B24's included....only guy I know that can hit something (and precisly) starting NOE is dantoo

please HT do some tutorial video on how to use bombsight...

This has nothing to do with bombers but I hate when I bounce a high fighter to defend our field, and the guy seeing he can't escape me (or thinks he can't) he just dive to our field and vulch whatever is there in full auto, until he dies....you tell him on chan 200 that it is lame but he says : I got 5 kills so its ok ! If everyone plays like that we should just roll La7's noe to the nearest base and shoot in HO vulch in middle of the ack....wait its already the case !

I guess its not about the game but the players mentality, and those days with the to of new players that think they are good (and insult others as soon as they die)  it seems going down the drain.

and yes last point, am shocked how players can be virulent on channel 200, insulting moms family origin etc, with almost total freedom, bypassing langage filter (wich is just a big joke btw) and if a moderator does something, nobody knows so it just goes on...maybe if moderators showed what they done to insulting players, maybe the other would calm down ?

I gues am totally out of the subject now :furious

One thing that helps is patience.  Accurate bomb drops take time.

I respect those that up from CVed fields hundreds of times in things like JU88s and Stukas; light bomber stuff, maybe torps.

Now, B17s, 24s, or Lancs...ehhh...not so much. :aok

sad part is you can up buffs from a one field back grab 8k kill cv and still be in a good position to kill 4 or 5 ftrs and rtb...all with relative ease...human nature always finds the easiest possible way to do a task..hence the suicide buffs.
