Title: hey you 308th FS mustang guys... your ride is here now send me more info!
Post by: Citabria on September 25, 2005, 10:55:39 AM
I have started on probably my last of 3 p51D's which is a request for a 308th Fighter Squadron/31st Fighter group stripe tailed p51D.

I am trying to model either an aircraft called "Flying DUTCHMAN" code "HL N"

or "American Beauty?" code "HL B"

I have no squadron info or pilot info on these planes.

only have a pic of a modern day warbird painted as the "flying dutchman, HL N" and a ww2 pic of "american beauty?, HL B" with the nose obscured.

any info on  pilots or more pics etc of these two planes if anyone has any info would help a lot!

American Beauty was flown by John Voll

Flying Dutchman by Robert Goebel

Both of the 308th FS, 31st FG

Goebel's biography is called "Mustang Ace"

Good photos in that one.

How many you need?  And should we take it to the skinners forum for this?

No offense, but finally some decent non-cookie cutter pony skins.  Looks sweet Fester, can't wait to see the Big Doll either.

Fester, this should get you started. Included are shots of the replica paint job on the P-51 based in Florida.

Nice work Fessy.

They may or may not help you out but I do have a few pictures of her.

Altho they are not vintage, they might help.
