Hi Guys,
Just got back from vacation and found that my HDD is on the blink. Now whenever I boot up in Windows XP it goes into chkdsk mode and keeps crashing halfway through the test. I can interrupt the chkdsk process, but it keeps coming back again and again and is seriously messing with my ability to use a more powerful disk utility.
How do you kill the automation in XP that makes chkdsk run?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks Clifra,
Unfortunately several of the files in my WIN32 directory have been corrupted or deleted, so I can't even get it to boot anymore. Now it looks like I'm going to have to reinstall the operating system.
From the sounds of the drive though, I suspect one of the platters might be going and that I'm going to have to buy a new HDD and do a disk to disk.
And to think, all I had to do to get in this mess was not run the PC for 2 weeks.
Thanks again.
