Doubtful.
Historic interest only imho.
PS Can you let me have a signed copy of that print - a true masterpiece. :)

If there is ever going to be a ToD campaign for the Battle of France, then the Defiant would be a must.

The Defiant is uebercool. However, in AH the concept of a turreted fighter will prove to be as flawed as it was in real life.
And if we get the Battle of France, we'll need Fairey Battles too... can you say 'sitting duck?'

The Defiant squadron scored some kills
but they were surprise kills during their first flights, the 109 pilot thought they were fighters --> easy kill but....*poof* quad .303 spitting out from the rear!
After that, the 109 pilots were more cautionate and attacked them from the front and from beneath
Doubt they will do any good in Aces High, unless with a gunner, but it's hard to shoot with 2 people in 1 plane (due to lag, connection etc.)

the Defiant looks like a ship. nice try though

How come the retards didn't respond to the HO problem by installing quad hizookas to the defiant?
It would have been like a friggin shark with a lazerbeam attached to its head.
-
Or even make it so, that the turret could be aimed forwards, and locked into that position so it can shoot forward (trough the propellor)
-
That would have required an airhead as a pilot though.

The Defiant was certainly a flawed concept. When it was designed the intention was for it to intercept unescorted bombers flying from Germany, the sudden defeat of the Allies in France wasn't anticipated. In this scenario it could have been fairly effective, formating alongside the bomber formations and hitting them from their blindspots. However its very debatable whether a Hurri or Spit couldn't have done a better job even then.
The RAF also misused it, sending it out over the Channel into Messerschmitt infested skies. After a couple of successful sorties, the LW got the Defiant's measure. Apart from the lack of frontal armament, it had a lousy turnrate, so it could neither outurn or outrun its opponents.
The Defiant formations also tended to overclaim drastically, an inevitable result of 2 or 3 gunners all shooting up the same plane. The resultant inflated kill tallies encouraged the RAF high brass keep it in the front line for too long despite crippling losses. In hindsight they should have withdrawn the Defiants to the North of England so they could have freed up a couple of Hurri or Spit squadrons to the South.
