Title: "Sometimes the people gotta do whut they gotta do.."
Post by: Hangtime on September 30, 2005, 02:41:12 AM
One upon a time a bunch guys went to fight a forigen war for democracy and freedom and came home to find in their government was abusing power, confiscating weapons..

They wern't happy. So they announced an all veteran political platform with votes fairly counted, poll monitoring, requested outside observers.

The campaign was ugly. People were beaten. Intimidated. Security forces openly abused their powers.

On election day the incumbents security details attacked the poll monitors, violently intimidated the voters, shooting one, denied access to the public for the count and impounded the poll tally. There was more violence.

The veterans armed themselves, laid siege to the now quite suddenly, tremendously outnumbered and outclassed law enforcement thugs and recaptured the ballot boxes. The vote was counted.

The incumbents were voted out. At the point of the veterans guns.

Sometimes the people gotta do whut they gotta do.

I especially liked the .30 cal the vets got up onto the roof. I've read about 3 different accounts of the Battle of Athens, was impressed by the resolve of the GI's to see justice done.

The National Guard was sent in to quell the 'uprising', but they never entered the town. One can only wonder why.. ( a blow-by blow was going out on the local radio station during the battle, and Cantrell and Mansfield had been on the phone with the Govenor) Also, the GI's and the Armory.. they got 3 Garands, 5 worn out .45's and 26 Enfields. No mention in that account of the Browning .30 cal but regardless, this buncha vets defenitely had their dookie in nice tight clumps.

All accounts have the GI's 'cleaned and returned the weapons to the Armory by sun up.'.

Imagine that. ;)

It's little stuff like this that keep my faith in the 'will  of the people' strong. The Vets used their training and their pre-dispostion to see thru government bull**** to excellent effect for pin-point results..

Wonder if such a thing is possible today?

To avoid busting parole, of course.  Of course, it's still just a little bit more than the law allows.

No, but you can buy a Verdone spot weed killer gun - might come in handy for warding off the grass cops!
