I'm having to learn Excel from scratch on my own for work. I can see the wonderful performance it's capable of, but I am "hunt and pecking" my way thru it. I've even tried using the wizard to format columns, but wind up doing the formulas 1 cell at a time.
Why on earth did'nt they teach this when I was in school? All those wasted hours learning punch cards... Where's my bottle of Jack?

Forget Excel and go straight to Access.

Depends. How much do you need your job?

It's a payroll spreadsheet with 7 departments. I have to breakdown hours, overtime, costs, ect. This store was doing it by hand and entering it into forms. I copied the spreadsheet from the home store, put it on my work computer, emailed the sheet to myself at home and I'm setting it up for my new store. I had to change all the personell, pay rates, ect.
I found the Jack, BTW.

no expert but would be glad to help if I can - VLOOKUP is a wonderful thing sometimes :)

Thanks, Eagler. I've got it whipped now. That earlier suggestion saved me at least an hour.

Excel is easy but just takes experience. There's several help sites online as well.

Charge your clients vast quantities of $$$ for Oracle, then make good your escape before they realise how doomed they are.

Forget it all and get cute secretary that excells in...

Access is like Fisher-Price's My First Database.
And it's NOT excel. It does different stuff.
