I've got $500 bucks to blow and have decided a video card is what I need as I am running off the motherboard right now. What is the one to buy?
-
Depends... do you have a AGP, PCI, or PCI-E slot for video?
-
I also wouldnt spend anywhere near $500 if your going AGP, since your likely not going to benefit from anything past a geforce 6800gt if thats the case, and yuo can get those for $250.
But we need to know your system specs to be sure
-
PCI on an Intel mb, 2gb RAM, P4 processor running WXP
-
Just PCI? Ooch. That'll limit your choices.
Frankly, having just looked it over I'd recommend you save your money and then get a new motherboard and video card at the same time. PCI just isn't really used for video cards anymore.
You're sure it isn't a PCI-E slot? You have a lot of memory for an older system, or is it a workstation or server board?
-
The motherboard is less than 6 months from brand new, I only just finished building the system. So I guess it's E and I'm looking at the wrong peice of info
