Title: Me again! Ntoskrnl.exe
Post by: Delirium on October 02, 2005, 04:56:09 PM
Sorry to bother you tech gurus, but I have another small problem.

I installed a dual boot on my machine; WinXP 64 on one HD and WinXP Pro on the other. It boots up, allows me to choose between the two OSs, WinXP boots fine, but WinXP64 gives me the following error;

'missing or corrupted file  Windowsroot\system32\ntoskrnl.exe'

I tried copying a different version of it from another section of the WinXP 64 OS drive to the window root menu, no success.

I put in my WinXP64 CD and copy and pasted the original file to the windows root menu on the 64 OS HD. No success.

I did a search on the Microsoft site- no mention of this problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Check your boot.ini file (you have to unhide it), it's probably pointing to the wrong part of the disk or wrong disk for XP64.
You should find the answer somewhere in the forums here
http://www.planetamd64.com/

Or do a search for +XP64 +"dual boot"

I got the same prob when I used the XP64 beta, fixed it by editing the boot.ini file.

Nothing worked, including editing my boot.ini.

I ended up 'repairing' my Win64 OS and everything is fine now.
