HTC....PLEASE FIX DAMAGE MODELS ON GV's!....
Tonight I was attacking a Vbase in a Panzer when myself and a tiger began to scrap it out....I tactically evade about 4 tiger shot's, and im the time he is re-loading scored four hits...the 4th hit took his turret out....unfortunately he got one last round off before knocking his turret down and disabled one of my tracks....no problem, I just turn my turret towards him...I lay out another 10 or so shots to the tiger before he dies...
now in the meantime a friend of mine is in an m3 and begins to spray the tiger with the .50's for all its worth...Low and behold when the tiger goes down the m3 gets the kill! WTF!
this is pretty straight forward...HTC please fix this
btw-11 im not bashing u @ all if u r reading this...just pointing out prob to HTC...
FIX!

Yeah it's been like that for a while. Which is why people take hurri1s and spray every GV they can, circle for 30 minutes and get all the kills.
Counts number of rounds that hit, not damage done.
-
No, it doesn't count the total number of hits. It counts the total damage.
However, there's a difference between the Total Damage vs. Crippling Damage.
I.E. A tiger could get sprayed by 100 p51's and nothing would happen.
But a single shot from a panzer will get the kill.
I fly Hurri2D's. This pisses me off more than anything else. I can disable a tank turret and engine, yet some goob with a 100 pound bomb can come in and get the kill.
The system needs to count crippling damage first, total damage next.
-
I agree laser, I used to use a hurri C model to take out turrets and engines and kill tanks and such. Then something was changed that caused the hurri C to NOT be able to do that kind of damage anymore so I changed to a hurri D with 40mm. It will certainly do the damage with some skilled aiming involved but the as you said, you kill the turret, then someone else hits it and you get the assist.
-
I have hit fighters with the ack and Ost only to get an assist. Doesn't happen very often though.

Somebody else did more damge to it then. Aircraft are soft targets, not hard targets like tanks. Damage tracking on tanks should only track shots that penetrate.

lasersailor184,
I am curious as to how a P-51D can make one strafing pass on the front of a Tiger, and I put three 88mm AP rounds into it and get an assist? Most damage? That Pony couldn't even mar the paint on a Tiger. Track it maybe, most damage to the front though?
Hope you can clear this up. Doesn't seem right to me. And I also see planes just fly around strafing GVs for point kills. One pass and on to the next. This isn't an attempt to kill it, just score the kill. Those passes are not most damage either. (IMO)

LOL I dropped two 1k bombs from a 110 on an osti and got an assist:rolleyes:
Now explain that one?
-
I use the yak with the big gun on tanks. 1-2 hits and you will get the kill when someone drops a 1000lber on them killing them.
-
Damage (I strongly believe) is tracked by what hits the tank. That damage is not tracked by whether it is actually hurting the tank.
So a p51 can put 1500 rounds on a tank. Not a single one of these rounds will have penetrated, but those 1500 rounds are counted towards total damage done on the tank.
Then you come along and put 3 88's in it. While you penetrated and actually did vehicular damage, the total damage you did compared to the 1500 rounds was small.
The best way to explain it is to quantify it. Let's say that 1 .303 round is 1 point. 1 .50 is 3 points. Let's say that 1 88 does 200 damage.
If you spray a Tiger with 1500 .50's, you've put 4500 points worth of damage on the tiger, but you haven't done damage or crippled the tiger. You put 3 88's on target, you've done 600 points of damage. You've penetrated and actually crippled the vehicle.
But you have "Done" 3900 points less of damage to the Tiger, so the p51 gets the kill.
Or take a bomb, for example. 1 1000 lb bomb does 2000 points of damage. You drop two nearby and you've done 4000 points of damage - range factor. So roughly 3500 points. While you haven't hurt, stopped, tracked or taken his turret, you'll have done more damage then another tiger can do.
Now, I don't know the actual number and the actual damage done by the seperate weapons, I was just making an example.
However, I do know that kills for Vehicles need to somehow be tracked by crippling or penetrating a tank.

Nope, it's always been number of hits. This also applies in plane vs plane, so if you're in a 109G10 with 30mm and your wingman wastes his P40B's ammo on a target but doesn't do hardly any damage (lights it up from stem to stern) and you pop him in a single 30mm hit to the cockpit, your wingman gets the kill.

That can't be true or it'd be the cannon birds regarded as assist magnents. Fly the Spit I or Hurri I for a bit. Lots of hits and lots of assists. I remember peppering a Mossie all over with a C.202 before a Spit IX dove in and killed it in a quarter second, getting the kill for it. I'd tracked the Mossie from ingress and nobody besides me and the Spit hit it, yet my 100+ hits counted not at all against the Spit's Hispanos. For aircraft it is done by damage, not hits. I don't know about tanks.
-
It's done the exact same way in Aircraft. However, there are few aircraft out there flying with 50mm of steel armor all over.
All the planes can not deflect bullets at all. They have no armor. So any hit goes towards majorly wounding the aircraft.
Unlike in GV's. Not every hit results in a major wound.
-
But that makes no sense sailor! If the bullets hit but do no damage they wouldn't count towards "overall damage" when the GV is killed. Key point: did no damage. AH has simple damage coad. If you bullet won't do squat, it doesn't do squat. There's no accumulative effect (unfortunately) and you can fire a trillion bullets at a tank and never kill it. In real life I think a couple million rounds would start to wear the armor down a tad.
That's why I don't think it's "total damage" -- because bullets don't even count as damage to a tank.
-
I pinged 3 or 4 deflected shots off a Tiger with a Pzr IV once, someone else snuck up on it and hit it once dead in the side for the kill. I got credit even though none of my shots penetrated.
-
It's obvious something needs fixing. For example many times it's easyer to kill gv's with a pintle gun than a close range cannon shot. Even vehicles that should b e resistant to .303 or .50 fire.
LVT to LVT it takes 2-3 seconds of fire from a single .50 to blow it up. Yet it can bounce off several panzer shots - time that it takes reloading once is more than it takes to kill it with the pintle gun.
The fact is that .50 fire should not affect panzers or tigers in any imaginable way unless the tank leader sticks his head out from the hatch. They're simply too armored to be affected by .50 fire. At most, hatch movement could be disabled by strafing - there were reported cases that tank crew couldn't get out unassisted because strafing had bent the hatch edges enough to jam it shut like a can of tuna.

nothing really buggy here.
if you want the kill, make sure you hit em hard. simple.
if you see a lone bomber flying with smoke pouring out and no friendly to clim it then hit it hard, its your kill.
If you see a smoking flak, dont drop 2k of bombs on it and expect to get the kill. ever heard of overkill? waste of ordanance?
only thing you should drop 2k on is a tiger, and 1k direct hit will do it.
anything else GV will die from a direct hit from a 250lb bomb or a concentrated burst of 20mm(needs alot)-27mm-30mm etc cannon.
a single rocket in the turret of a flak is a killshot in my experience, but almost unheard of accuracy in the MA.
theres nothing really needs changing imo.

Definitely, there are not everything right with GVs

Under "bad guy damage" AH logs record the number of bullets....... not their calibre.
But this does not mean that this is used to award kills.
I always thought that kill award status was determined by the FE of the victim.
We know it is not component damage related. (if my single 30mm hit took of your tail someone else spraying you all over with 12mm may win the kill)
It would be more logical if the kill/assist award was based upon calibre x bullet(shell) count and this may be the case.
There could still be incongrueties even then..... imagine a turret has taken hits to a point where it is 95% depleted and the next 2x20mm shells will kill it. Now some one drops a 1000llb bomb on it. The 1000llb bomb increases turret depletion to 200+% the tank was destroyed at 100%. Is the bomber granted 5% of 100%(assist) or 105% of 200%(kill)?
-
I'm pretty sure it does not count bullet hits, but damage. Perfect example is the Spit 1 vs. Typhoon analogy posted earlier.
If you take a 110 and give a good spray to each GV you see, you've given out a lot of damage, though you might not have hurt it.
A 110 spraying will beat out a p51 spraying anyday.
2-30mm's and 4-20's can deal a lot of damage. But in the case of t34, Panzer and Tiger, it'll only just scratch the paint job.
It's real gaimy, but there are people out there who will take a 110 and spray everyone to get the kill.

Isnt it more important that enemy dies, doesnt matter who gets TEH kill.
(Off topic: Nice... Im learning more and better english every day... TEH TEH, NOOOK, PWND, QUAH (whats that) :D )

Hmmm....a Fighter hit by and Osti doesn't fly anymore. How could a flying aircraft have more damage than that?

maybe the shots didnt all deflect, maybe he killed the engine and didnt realise.
i just dont think there is enough to warant working on the GV code when the planes are all being remodeled

Mechanic, the Hurricane Mk2D is my favorite ride. It is so aggravating that I can take out a tank's turret and engine in two shots but not get the kill.
It's also very aggravating for other GV'ers.
