Yup...average frame rate is up overall, but in furballs average frame rate is way down...to the point of serious stuttering for me.

It released with a READ ME referring to updated sound card drivers, the latest release of DirectX (9.0c) and checking that sound acceleration in DxDiag is set at the 3/4 mark vs full.

Suffered same problem with new version too.

Did the same as suggested, knocked sound down to 3/4, reduced textures to 128 instead of default 256. Stopped preloading all into RAM.

Still suffered, then sussed what it was on mine.

My GFX card is o/c'd so the Optest enhancements were pushing mine beyond its limits causing the freezes.

Reduced my o/c settings a touch and all is well.

If on an Nvidia card Skuzzy advised changing driver to 61.77 altho if I remember yours is an ATI isn't it?

Anyone know how to make that setting stick?  It randomly goes back to the full mark on my machine. It may stay at 3/4 through a reboot, or not. Sometimes it returns to the full setting imediately. I've had this problem on this machine with several sets of video and sound divers and wondering if there's some hidden method to make the setting permanent.

Goto http://www.guru3d.com, under downloads,  and download a program called NVHardpage.

It allows you to tweak the overclock settings, optimize the card for gaming, turn things on/off etc. like v-sync, a-aliasing etc.

It's free.

Alky:-
With regards to sound settings changing, it will if you play movie clips and regularly change the volume controls when viewing them.
