Imagine for a moment that you are a salmon. Not just that...a salmon that can see hear and understand everything going on...just like you can now.
Then imagine seeing this plane. It's like GENOCIDE dude!!! Come to Alaska in a plane painted as a salmon and kill kill kill the salmon!!!!!
;)
Then imagine you are a cockroach...in the same light. Then watch a Raid commercial.
Sadaam lives in all of us!
hehe
(yea...I'm in a weird mood...must be Monday)

$500,000 to paint it, out of a federal grant.
Fascinating.
Yet people call ME crazy for saying that government is too big...
-
Umm.. I guess the the plane is really packed with seats if the image of canned fish is so strong that they had to label it. :aok
-
Damn, I sure could go for some grilled salmon right about now...
-
mmmm smoked salmon on a delicious breadroll.
-
Guess the $500K grant worked!

and your tax dollars paid for it.
damn; this place gets more messed up every damn day.

It's cool but I don't get why they didn't paint it totally 3D. The nose of tha salmon should be the nose of the plane. Right now its 2D on a 3D surface and is ALMOST 3D.

Yeah, more like this:

I thought this thread was going to be about a new STAR, but I an not disapppointed. Thats an attractive aircraft. I took off a few weeks ago from King County Internation/Boeing (great museum, 190D-13, SR-71 & ton of other great aircraft) field behind the 1st ever 737, true jets & all, it was ugly compared to this one.

I'd love to see it emerging from low IFR on final approach

If the salmon travels like that, just imagine the spawning season!

The paint job is part of a $500,000 promotion, the paint job did not cost $500K on it's own.
It is kinda cool!!
-
No, you don't understand. It's tax dollars for a paintjob. It's good spending of my hard earned cash. Go corporate welfare!!!

rather they paint a plane with my tax dollars, instead of paying for food for some fat lazy welfare for life person.
I mean at least the plane will be around for awhile and not be turned into thick n chunky peanutpoo

What Swager said. It's only "part of a $500,000 promotion for the Alaskan seafood industry."
This week my firm won some sizable business, marketing for a major oil pipeline. Even though the tab is huge, when you break it down, the cost for the actual work is far less than the cost for media placement.
Trust me.... the paint job didn't cost 500k. And I think it looks cool.

Is there a Grizzly Airline?

How 'bout we don't shell for either?
Just cause we got government $5,000ea toilet seats don't mean we oughta get a freakin matching towel for 10k more.

Yup. We're supposed to have faith in capitalism and market forces. The banks should be forking out for this - or it aint worthwhile.
[d'Oh! Edit:]
Government shouldn't be shelling out for airlines. The welfare of its citizens is an entirely different matter.... and debatable.... so scratch my support of "either".
