If you get out onto the runway with an La-7 and, instead of turning on the engine, you hold down the following combination of keys -- windows, alt, ctrl, shift, @ then hit F1 -- you activate "weather-balloon launch mode."  Basically, it hooks your La-7 up to a giant high-altitude weather balloon that tows the plane up to as high as 100,000 ft.  At any time between launch and 100,000 ft, you can disconnect from the tether, start your engine, and be cruising around.

I've used this technique to get my La-7 up to 95,000 ft., although the handling is somewhat sluggish at that altitude unless I turn on the optional La-7 JATO pack to get my speed up to a more comfortable mach 1.7.

La7's still have decent climb settings and decent speeds on cruise settings.

But I only have been saying this for months.  Why start listening now?

Laser your signature was 5x as long as your entire post. I'm sure you forgot the part where HTC says "Only 5 lines allowed in your signature", eh?

Just pointing that out, fyi.

I got out a ruler.  My signature might be more than 5 lines, but it isn't the largest on this post.

But you still haven't addressed the fact that I've been right about La7's...

Are there any planes that don't gain alt if left on autoclimb with max cruise man/rpm settings?
Title: 35k la7 over bish HQ
Post by: Krusty on October 04, 2005, 11:15:57 PM
hub... a b17 can't even maintain LEVEL flight with max cruise settings. Those are only for when it's burned off half its gas and let its bombs go, and is rtb. Trust me I tested it when the B24 came out (wanted to compare cruise settings).

So yeah, there are some. The late-war planes are monsters, and do well even on cruise, but the early and mid war planes don't fare so well all the time.

Um... yes. Yes it is. :P

Mine's 5. Yours is a freaking PARAGRAPH!! You've got [EDIT: almost] a dozen lines on my screen. Might want to save us poor schlops some scrolling time :)

Point is I shouldn't have to, and when you've got 3-5 replies in a short thread, that's a significant amount of scrolling for a 1-line addition to the conversation. Like I said might wanna check the rules.

Krusty its "11- Do not use overly large signatures. Signatures should not take up more than 5 normal sized text lines in height. Do not use images in your signature."

His sig is six (6) small lines that the same as five (5) normal text lines.

Correction, his sig has 10 small lines. That's still more than 5 normal lines.

I only count six that is unless he changed his sig.

I count only 5. Get a better monitor dweebs.

Aside from that I find sig lines a no-lifer things. If your message can't assert your position no sig will.

You know... the number of lines in his sig DOES change depending on the resolution you run your monitor at, and how big you run your IE window at....

Now, back to topic..

Who was the Lala alt monkey?!

stupid size? 90% of the internet is designed for 800x600. If I change my size 90% of the internet looks like S***!. I'm not changing my size so that some guy can post a paragraph on a 1600x1280 sized monitor and claim "it's only 3 lines!!" because his size is abnormal, not mine.

you fail to see the point. While there ARE a select few that can run super absurdly wide resolutions, the great majority (and this has been proven by statistics -- but I admit I can't remember where) of Internet users use 800x600 for designing webpages AND viewing webpages. Saying that when you put your screen at 200 pixels wide I have 8 lines of sig is stupid. But saying that "in normal circumstances" he has 10 lines, that is valid. The "normal circumstances" part is the thing.

Never mind. I'm sending an e-mail to HTC. Not about Lazer or anybody, but with a general suggestion on the matter.

800X600 WAS a standard, came out when SVGA was introduced and the old guys used 640X480, that was what, 1993-ish?

Since 1995 or so 1024X768 was becomming standard, it is the default setting for 17CRT which is also a standard (low-end) setup today. I was running 1600X1200 back in 1995 and would agree that I was a small minority then, but less of one now. The 1920X1200 I am using now is on a laptop for crying out loud. But with 19" CRTs and LCDs I would say 1280X1024 is about to pass 1024X768 as "the standard".

I think that most webpages use 1024X768 though, the ones using 800X600 are antiquated to say the least.

Gawd...we're reduced to arguing about stupid signature lines?  If I still drank, I would have one right now.

It is a stupid rule anyway because as has been demonstrated the number of lines varies with size of text and resolution.

Dumb rule, dumb discussion, my 2 cents.

Only a bunch of rubes could turn a post about a 40k La7 into a pissing contest / policing / argument about signatures.

Always cracks me up how threads get edited for (some, but not all) posting violations. Yet, no staff takes the time to address or even AKNOWLEDGE the topic of the thread.

HT and some of the BK dweebs will be mad at me after the this, but hey, it is only a game they may as well fix it.

Have you ever been killed while you thought you were the only con in the area?  Taken hits, look back, but no one is there?  Killed by some one that is miles away?

Here is how it works (I know it works with lalas and tempests for sure).  Take a lala or a temp above 35K.  It has to be above 35K or the bug/exploit does not work.  Once up there, use the zoom on the guns.  It seems there is a bug that alows infinite zooming while in that alt.  In addition, the guns seem to also use the zoom.  All you have to do is scan the sky below, see a dot, zoom in, fire, boom.

How do you think some of the elit BKs land 20 kills in a tempest all the time?  Not sure if it works in any other planes so you will have to try for yourself.
