Title: Giambi named comback player of the year.....
Post by: Bodhi on October 06, 2005, 08:10:26 PM
Nice to see a steroid using POFS being so honored.

He along with a slew of other "users" should be banned from the game.

They represent all that is wrong with baseball.

See if you do something bad...and get caught, and then try the right way and succeed, you get twice the reward than if you had just done it right the first time! Great lesson there!

why attack Giambi, the guy came clean, admitted it unlike most.
he never going to set any MLB records unlike BONDS who is going to break the biggest record and smear the record. Giambi sukked *** early and has become a premeir hitter again.  dont see anybody attacking suspect #1 who has been hiding low BONDS.

out of all the users Giambi is the only one i know of to step up and admit it. took his lumps and tried to move on. almost went to minors, glad he didn't.     and yes I'm a yankee fan.

The number one user BONDS has taken the least amount of grief over this, sit out season wait for it to blow over what the hell he can hit 20 homers in 20 games to break record. and then he will retire to avoid the accusations.

Abig to Giambi, if he tests postive again then I'm a POS.
watched him all year atbat to atbat and he has found his way.

ya know, there is other performance enhancing drugs that are undetectable... human growth hormones...etc

looks kinda fishy when he went from having no bat speed to steriod-giambi bat speed without any transition

i agree that bonds is more of a joke though.

Well, there are different ways to look at it. What lesson does it send to kids? Well, if you are a man, and be honest when you you have done something wrong, and work hard to correct it, there is reward.

Bonds should be banned, he is a cheater no less, no more.

Giambi is a cheater, STILL a cheater.  As moose pointed out, this POS is back on something again, I bet my last dollar he is.  I hope they are storing his test mediums, because the fat lady is gonna sing on his butt....

Don't let that blue cap blind you to the obvious.

I hope Barry hits 900 home runs.

Then they will make steroids mandatory for all players. That'll separate the wheat from the chaff. Any wimp who doesn't want to die early can just go play in the minors.

You know, 100 years ago any sportsman who worked in a health club was considered a cheater. Then anyone who had the audacity to be a Physical Education teacher was a cheater. Times change and the genie is out of the pill bottle. I just don't see why this is such a problem for people.

Alzado, Lyle Martin  b. 1949. d. 1992.
Football player for the Denver Broncos, Cleveland Browns and the LA Raiders. Lyle, a true defensive standout for the Broncos, was the first Yankton College (South Dakota) player ever drafted by the NFL and was a two-time all conference pick. From those humble beginnings, his combination of quickness and strength, provided Lyle with the pass-rushing skills to start with the Broncos in 1971.

His 4.75 40-yard dash time, coupled with his tremendous strength - Lyle once had 27 wins as an amateur boxer - ranked Lyle as one of pro football's top pass rushers. His status as a premier defensive lineman was also enhanced by his versatility - he played both end and tackle in the front four with All-pro status. Lyle Alzado was 42 when he died of brain cancer. An American football SuperBowl hero with the Los Angeles Raiders in the 1984, Alzado owned a restaurant in West Hollywood and had embarked on a career as a movie actor when he died in 1992 after going public. "I started taking anabolic steroids in 1969 and never stopped," he admitted during his pain-racked final days. "It was addicting, mentally addicting. Now I'm sick, and I'm scared. Ninety per cent of the athletes I know are on the stuff. We're not born to be 300lbs or jump 30ft. But all the time I was taking steroids, I knew they were making me play better. I became very violent on the field and off it. I did things only crazy people do. Once a guy sideswiped my car and I beat the hell out of him. Now look at me. My hair's gone, I wobble when I walk and have to hold on to someone for support, and I have trouble remembering things. My last wish? That no one else ever dies this way."

Riverview Cemetery, Portland, Oregon, USA.

Cause of Death: Brain cancer brought on by excessive steroid use.

"Times change..."

In 100 years if players were secretly getting bionic implants you'd be all for it?

thats definitely the attitude from a casual baseball fan

a lot of baseball is based on tradition and statistical records that have been set.... those records set by people decades ago are being broken by players who are using illegal substances to better themselves.

what does that tell kids? you wont go anywhere in sports unless you take drugs which down the road could lead to a ton of harmful side effects? give me a break

i hope bonds' knees give out before he breaks aarons hr record.. the fact that he'll probably beat ruths is bad enough.. aaron is his godfather and even he's pissed about it (but he wont comment publically)

Moose,

Same feelings here.  I really wish that Bonds would take a step back from his narcosistic arse and realise the message he is sending.

Steroid use is fugged up, and a major health problem in your life long help.  Too say otherwise is just ludicrous.

Maybe we should make all baseball players overeat, drink too much and contract a venereal disease at least once during their career. That would be the only real way to compare them to Babe Ruth.

thats a poor retort... obviously all the players back then were like that.

You only think it's poor cause you don't get the point. It wasn't untill the 60's that players made enough money so that they didn't have to work a second job in the off season. Then after Curt Flood and the beginning of free agency players were rewarded for staying in shape year round. Kinda hard to compare Babe to those guys... is money an unfair advantage?

How about the discovery of vitamin supplements and nutritional coaches? Unfair advantage? No? Then lets discuss the Tommy John surgery. Quite the invention. Can we elect a pitcher to the Hall of Fame who won a third of his 300 games after reconstructive surgery?  What is the difference between medical assistance done by a surgeon and medical assistance done by a pharmacist?

What if a similar surery was discovered that involved the replacement of a ligament that increased the speed of a pitchers fastball? That be OK with you?

If steroids are cheating then year round fitness trainers and vitamins and nutritional trainers and reconstructive surgeons are cheats too. Same chit.
