I remember once finding out how to save a movie that you viewed online, when there wasnt a download link. It had to do with going into a certain folder, I am pretty sure it was a Windows folder, finding the file and saving it before it was removed.
Does anyone know how to do this?

With XP just follow this path...
C: Documents and Settings- User name - Local Settings -
Temporary internet files
The media file should be there but you may have to rename the extention for it to work, I just draged and dropped into the WMV player.

Thanks, I'll try it.

If it's a streaming video, there won't be a temporary file.

yup, turns out to be a steaming video. It is a video of Operation River Gate in Iraq. My son is in the video.
Any way to save a streaming video?
thanks

Any chance you could post the link?

It's on the ABCNEWS.com website, under the video section called "On The Attack".
Look for "On the Attack" (http://abcnews.go.com/Video/)
But, you have to subscribe to see it I am pretty sure. I did because I was out of town when it played and this was the way I had to see it.

I've got a thingamajic on my own computer for saving wmv-videos (and whatnots), the program gets the filenames from the server and saves the videos to my "selected folder".. Too bad I'm on my laptop now, can't check the name of the software right now. I'm pretty sure I got the link to the software from here though... A japanese software, not too user friendly...

All I do is watch it so that it downloads and go File>Save As in Windows Media Player...

That doesnt work on a lot of streaming videos. You dont have the save option.
