Ive liked Peter jacksons work though:(

He's just the executive producer.

By the look so far, I'm betting it'll stink on ice. http://imdb.com/title/tt0464037/fullcredits

The *local* feeling on this is not good. Like Sandmans says, videogames + movies = flops. PJ may be a god, but no good can come of this.

There has never been and possibly never will be a decent video game movie. Die hard fans will gripe about inaccuracies and people who don't really know won't get the gist of the movie.

Games with really good stories like Max Payne or Half-Life might be decent, but not blockbusters.

they weren't all totally bad

tomb raider 1 and 2
mario bros :D
doom (not a good example but it has hope)
resident evils did ok
mortal combats did good

thats all i can think of

No, Mortal Kombat 1 did good.  The others were a joke.

Mario Brothers WAS bad.  Really Really bad.  Doom is going to be awful.

But the Tomb Raiders were surprisingly good.  I was hesitant to see them, but glad I did.

What about the one SEGA made about the zombies that the actors had to kill and there were scenes from the game cut into the movie. That was THE worst movie Ive ever seen.

I don't know... he shocked the world at how well he did LoTR.  Than again, he had a great story line already there.

He was also the director of LOTR. He's the Exec Producer of Halo. It's not exactly a "creative" position.

Yes but they got Martin O'Donnell to do the original music.  He was the assistant engineer in "little shop of horrors" 1986

Movies that you know will suck.

1. Movies based on video games.

2. Movies based on comic book characters.

3. Movies based on animals/babies that talk and/or compete in human sporting events.

4. Movies based on action adventure TV shows.

1.) Tomb Raider
2.) Spiderman
3.) You got me here.
4.) Serenity.

Oh and I'd like to add, If you're older than 16 and you think that the new "Star Wars" series or the "Lord of the Rings" movies are great. You're probably smoking too much marijuana.

Ever meet an adult, serious LoTR fan who doesn't smoke weed?

I'm clearly not a comic book guy Vulcan. Pay attention. I just got done pointing out how all movies in the same genre of the "Power Rangers" have sucked. More like Abe Simpsons, "Too many gratiutous car chases, the romantic sub plot felt tacked on, the screen was too small..."

Seriously, show me how my 4 guidlines aren't effective.

Lets see I'll start off the list.

mortal combats -sucked
Mario brothers -sucked
tomb raider -sucked

Batmans -sucked
Spidermans -sucked
Meteorman -sucked
Supermans -sucked
Xmen -sucked
Fantastic 4 -sucked
Power Rangers -sucked
Any comic book movie I can think of -sucked

Look who's talking -sucked
Air Bud -sucked
Babe -sucked
Homeward Bound -sucked

Charlies angels -sucked
mission impossible -sucked
mod squad -sucked
X-files -sucked
Bewitched -sucked and I can't imagine a scenario when I would watch this
Dukes of Hazard (haven't seen it yet but) -sucked
The Fugitive -ok rare exception, but how many even knew that it was a tv show? By the way, the 2nd Fugitive -sucked.

I'm sure there's many many more that can be added to this list but this is all that I care to dredge up at the moment.

mortal combats - why would you even watch this?
Mario brothers - cheeky fun
tomb raider - bouncing boobies in slow motion

Batmans - First two good, then suck suck suck, then the new one was good
Spidermans - Sucked, with some good parts, but mostly sucked.
Meteorman - What the hell is this?
Supermans - Classic, and yeah, sucked, but still kinda funny.
Xmen - First one was good, second one was better...how'd they manage that?
Fantastic 4 - Jessica Alba's boobs.  Haven't seen it yet, though.
Power Rangers - See Mortal Combats.
Any comic book movie I can think of - But what about The Punisher with Dolph Lungren?!

Look who's talking - Stupid talking babies.
Air Bud - Holy crap, why did you even mention this?
Babe - Not interested.
Homeward Bound - I'm not 12 years old.

Charlies angels - Sucked, but kind of entertaining.  Second one just plain sucked.
mission impossible - The first one sucked so bad it was amazing to see the second one suck worse...how'd they manage that?!
mod squad - Looked stupid in the previews.
X-files - Not too bad.
Bewitched - Yikes!
Dukes of Hazard - This movie is AWESOME!
The Fugitive - Not too bad at the time.  The second one was ass.

That's fine. But let the record show that all but one of the movies that I listed did in fact suck.

Can anybody give me some examples of flicks from those four catagories that didn't suck? Somebody who's not on my ignore list.

It was pretty bad. It had they guy tha tdid "hollywood shuffle" in it. It's almost as bad as Blankman.

Charlie's Angels was a fun movie with a bit too much of bullet time.

Batman Begins was actually an excellent movie.

X-Men 1 and 2 were both excellent movies, though "true" x-men fans would probably hate them because they didn't follow the story line. "I can't believe they had freeze being younger than cyclops!" It was good movie.

Babe was an excellent movie. I couldn't make it 1 minute into Babe II though.

Dukes of Hazard was also a fun movie. I won't call it "good", but it was enjoyable and pretty much what you'd expect from that story line and production group.

The rest listed pretty much sucked, but how is that different than the suckage to good movie ratio normally seen out of hollywood?
Title: I <3 Peter Jackson
Post by: megadud on October 11, 2005, 08:03:36 AM
there is a difference between totally sucking and kind of sucking. I am going by if a movie totally sucked or if it didn't. hardly any of the movies listed totally sucked to where you couldn't watch them because they were so god awful.

blankman was a fantastic movie!!! the majority of movies listed  were decent enough. I want to know what a "good" movie is for suave's or SOB's standards. too bad i'm ignored :cry :lol

To each his own as it pertains to entertainment.

Babe was excellent, Babe II was dreadful.
Spiderman was great.  Spiderman II was ok.
XMen was well done.  XMen II was too drawn out for me.
Fantastic 4 was just a lot of fun.
Hulk was the definitive 'bad movie' in the comic book genre.

Tomb Raider was terrible.  The second one was actually pretty entertaining and much better than the first.

All the Charlie's Angels movies were horrible.  I could not find a reason to like them.

Serenity is simply awesome.  Even the Wife liked it and she is not a sci-fi fan.

I'll reserve comment on Doom.

Movies, you like them, or you don't.  And even when you like them, most would have a different reason for liking them.  Nothing wrong with that.

Anyway. Doom is bound to be teh sukz. The Rock, oh sweet jebus. Oh, and shooting scenes in first person? Hell, I'll just play the damn game.

I have a feeling Halo will follow the same path. I'll have to wait for previews to judge though.

Just because you are an expert on sucking, does not mean you know when a movie sucks. ;)

Some of the Movies you listed are good/fun Movies and if you didnt like the LOTR movies you are clearly, well an expert at sucking.:D
