Title: Overshoot Training Film
Post by: Pooface on October 16, 2005, 12:00:45 PM
i caught this sortie on film a while back, and always thought it was a good example of using rolls and corkscrews to force an overshoot. bear in mind that this is my first film, so dont expect it to be oscar winning :D

thoughts and constructive critisism most welcome!

hope you like:)

I really dont care for a "Training" film to be taken out of AH film viewer context.  Cant see speeds.... distances (Sometimes) etc etc....

I found it to hard to see what was happening in the early part of the film.  My feeling was that you used slower your speed to create a good snapshot, not really what I would consider an overshoot.  On a good overshoot I want to see a con 200-400 yds dead six at a simular energy state then scrubbing speed and manuvering to get the con to squirt out in front.  Again.... if I am misjudging I appoligize.... like I said I had a hard time reading what was happening.

On the flip side I thank you for taking the time to make and post this film!

Just calling it like I see it here..... no flame intended.

hey, no problem. i asked for constuctive criticism. i did say it was my first film tho:D. yeah, im still learning, so any advice is good advice. i do understand what your saying, its just so difficult to get it across when your trying to make a training film, that also looks good. i was just trying to show how you can use rolling to get behind a guy, instead of using your elevators (which i didnt have). of course none of this was helped by the jittery film viewer! :D

schatzi also picked up on the fact that there was no visible speed/distance data, which I need to learn to show better :D

this one also had a big problem, because i made it the first time, and it was far smoother, and looked far better. unfortunately, as i converted it into the film at the end of editing, it didnt work, and it deleted the file, so i had to start all over again, and it didnt come out right the second time round. anyway, ty for the advice, i'll try to keep it in mind with my next film.

I know making films can be tougher than one would think and the results can be less than you wanted.
I definately know with my loops, rolls and split s films in public :)

looks to me like you stole the LA7's kill!!  he clips its wing just seconds before, how could you pooface! :furious

good film man, you did the damage, not an easy fight to win without an elevator.

try anding a spit on a CV with no elevators :p  i had to do that sometime last tour and only dinged the prop for a hooked landing..

I know, i had a great fight with the guy for 2 minutes, and then that lgay tried to cherry pick my fight! i clearly was the one who killed him, because i took all his stabs off, and killed his pilot with a shot to the canopy, instant death (he pops 1 second after the shot), and i still got that kill as a blinking assist!
