EDIT: ^-- that should be 125 pix wide, but freepichosting is being stupid right now. It blew it up to 600 wide.

Somewhat similar to another skin I did (pattern wise) but the colors are different and this one has teeth. I had to work around some stretching issues on the nose, but it turned out nicely.

Looks like a great skin! Great job on the mottling - I always imagined that would be tough to do and get it to look right.
The underwing engine exhaust stains seem a bit overdone, however I can't say for sure cuz I' haven't seen a real image of a 110 from that angle.
This one will be great in the game!
-
The underwing and overwings are about the same intensity, the overwing is just harder to see. I've got some pics of 110s in desert camo and it gets pretty messy. I don't know why, but those early DB engines were just hell on these planes. It might have had to do with bad fuel or something.
Oddly enough, the 109s I've seen didn't have anywhere near this amount but they're using the same family of engines!
Makes no sense :huh

Huge black smears across the wings, and they got repainted when they went to that theater (so that's probably less than a year's worth of build up)

See? I found one or two later G-model 109s with lots of black coming from the exhausts, but I think they just washed the 109s more. Again, Don't know why, that's just what I've seen.

DB engines throw out a big blast of smoke when you gun the throttle, probably why the planes with them always have such heavy stains.
-
But 109s have DBs as well, and they don't have nearly as much of a stain. So it must be how well-kept the planes were, or how much the pilots wanted the plane to "look pretty" or something. (*shrug*)
Good to know about the DBs and throttling, though
-
Could be that the 110s in the pics were just more heavily used. I dunno numbers in service, but I'd imagine that the twin-engined, longer ranged and more hevily armed 110 probably saw heavier use in certain theaters or situations than the 109s did. Might explain the heavier weathering.
The DB engine smoke has been used as an explanation for why USAAF bomber crews claimed so many more 109s and 110s shot down than were actually lost- the belch of smoke that they thought was a fatal hit was actually just the pilot throttling up to dive away or zoom up for another pass.
-
You would think in the heat of combat he'd be throttled up anywys

Is that a C or a G?
-
The real thing is an E, it's made for the C.
The C4 had about 1100HP engines. The D had about 50 HP or so more, but was made to allow under wing ferry tanks (not like the 109 DTs that the G-series has, big things with vertical fins on them). The E had 1200hp engines and was basically identical to the C/D but with wing DTs (still big ones with vertical fins).
The G had 1400hp engines. The G series has 2x30mm and 2x30mm. A few Gs had 7mms but not many.
So Even though "E" is closer to "G", it was much closer to a C4 than it was to a G2, in performance and firepower. Think of it as a 109E4 109 E7 109F2 series. The E7 is much closer to the E4 than it is to the F2.
Same for 110C4 110E1 110G2. So I had no qualms about making it a C4 skin.
EDIT: I bring up the 109 comparison because the C4 had DB601A engines and the 110E had DB601N engines, similar to the 109E4 having 601As and the E7 having 601Ns

Hey Krusty,
Great Skin!
How did you paint the cone(s) by the props multiple colors?
I couldn't find where to paint that on the 110g-2.
-
Its a C4, not a G2. The prop is hard-coded so we can't re-skin it in either 110. Not until they are re-done to AH2 standards (and that might be some time).
-
Ya I knew it was a C4..
I was hoping to find a way to do the prop for ZG76 skin.
-
CC, sorry I couldn't be of help.
