can we make a CV fleet be able to stop and hold its position. many times have we been trying to pound an enemy field from one spot by keeping the cv in as tight of a path as possible, but as soon as you can take off, or try to, it starts to turn and you roll off the side of the deck. This would also make shelling the enemy field easier too(like omg me and my shelling :rolleyes: )

Sitting still for a large naval asset would be a Bad Thing (tm). Big ships have horrible acceleration, and if they needed to get moving because a bomber wing is inbound... Well, good bye carrier.
There's also the fact that the wind over the deck is almost required for some aircraft to take off. A loaded TBM or F4U might not be able to get into the air if the carrier was stationary.

Torpedos would be much deadlier. Enemy just has to up a PT boat and face the carrier and all 4 will hit if the carrier does not move before the torpedos hit.

I actually have had good luck using torps on CV's so far out of the 10 that ive attacked ive suck 6 with torp bombers.
typically I like to use the TMB and come in on the deck... it helps if someone is trying to dive bomb it as this typically attracts the ack ack..
Of course you must realize that I was trained in JG44 and that there is no other squad even qualified to lick the dirt off our feet in terms of ability with all types of bombers. :)

can we make it so that torps dont have unlimited range? ive heard that torps only could hit ships from about 6000 ft or less

Torpedo ranges varied with speed settings and type. Ranges of 14,000 yards were possible for Japanese type 93 "Long Lance" types. The USN Mk14 had a maximum range of 9,000 yards at reduced speed (31.5 knots), and 4,500 yards at maximum speed (46 knots). Typically, sub commanders preferred to get closer than 2,000 yards to increase the odds of scoring hits.

You see, when the carrier is moving it is essentially elongating the distance a plane has to increase speed before taking off and landing.i'm not sure you could get a F4U off the deck of a standing still carrier.

Carriers shouldn't be steaming at the speed they do in AH, sure the torpedos may have realistic speeds in AH but against a Task Force doing 32 knots, they are worthless.

Yeah but they can't be completely still and be useful for a takeoff except for maybe a Zeke, can they?

What the TG needs is a speed control.
They only used the high end speeds when danger/battle was eminant.
If they ran for 24 hours at max speed they'd leave their fleet oilers & support ships WAY way behind them.
Fleet should IMO be slowed down to half its current speed.
Add an "launch aircraft" or "emergancy evade" button/s that would kick the speed up for a limited time. Something like 15 min every hour.

We need the CVs going that fast so planes can take off, they didn't go that fast in real life because they could just turn into the wind and lift off. but AH has no wind so we have fast carriers to make up for it.
