Title: Waiting Sux
Post by: ASTAC on October 26, 2005, 03:17:38 PM
Friday is when the Navy detailers post the results for assignments/orders to the next duty station. The waiting is killing me.

I applied for a Frigate homeported in my hometown of Jacksonville, FL (Mayport actually)

I've been trying to get back to Jax for going on 8 years now, ever since I got bamboozled to coming here to Hampton Roads, VA

Those who have any religous beliefs..please pray I get these orders...I just can't take Virginia anymore...and because of my daughter(in Ocala,FL) I can't leave the east coast(well I can, but I don't see her enough as it is).

Besides it's nice to get off work and go home to mom's house, like I did when I was on the SPRUANCE during my first tour (I'll have to leave the family here until school is out)

What? The detailer won't simply tell you what you have?

You in Aviation?

Well I hate VA, but NAS Oceana is nice...my pick would be NAS JAX of course, but you won't get to work on fighters there..lets see...dunno

Yes aviation. Rate is AT. Been told will be doing 60% land duty and 40% fleet. I doubt it will be that way tho. What is your rate?

That's a shame.

In 1987, I was in VF-191. We decommissioned and the detailer had a hardon for sending me to the Constellation. For some reason, he and I got off on the wrong foot. I knew a RIO at VF-51. He talked to his Ops O and as it turned out, my detailer and the Ops O had both served on the Coral Sea. He made a phone call... and what do you know... I got my orders to the Connie and my ord mod to VF-51 on the same day. :aok

OS

Actually most AT billets are shore..since most squadrons only have a few. Most are at AIMD on a Station somewhere or AIMD on a Carrier....figure there are only 13 CV's..even in a squadron, it's like shore duty with a few deployments here and there.

If your Chief knows the detailer, you can still get the hookup.
