Title: I'm a HO skill-less dweeb
Post by: Golfer on October 26, 2005, 03:44:37 PM
It's true...someone said so.  I typed the following in word and am pasting here to make some kind of point...though I'm not sure what.

Film to reference for the following (http://www.onpoi.net/ah/pics/users/856_1130359123_golfervsrmaniacholdfire.ahf)

At the point the film picks up I've got 3 kills in the bag and am in between A19 and A1 on the map currently up (Uterus...don't know the real name sadly) happy as a clam furballing.

Something happened today that made me curious and I put on my statistics hat.  Personally, I don’t play the game for its great rewards of perk points, score and rank.  I play because I’ve been a member of my squadron for 7 years now and have been involved with many of the same people since I was on the ‘helium tank’ in Air Warrior free on AOL.  I let my curiosity get the best of me and actually checked the stats on a certain player vs. myself after I was being bombarded on ch 200 about being a no-skill HO dweeb.

Since I used to coach baseball I have a thing for stats and thought I’d pick apart a few of them here much like I would for my players.

Player X as they shall be named to this point 4:00pm EST has 154:32:00 in game.  That’s 6.4 continuous days sitting at their computer doing nothing but aces high while in a sortie.  Thus far that’s 21% of the month.  720 hours this month in its 30 days.  Figure you want 8 hours of sleep per day that’s 240 hours gone leaving 480 hours in the month.  If they had a full time job they would need to devote 40 hours per week for 160 hours per month.  320 hours left.  Let’s not forget an hour long lunch break…290.  Travel time to/from work for the average Joe might be 30 minutes each way (it is for me) and poof…30 more hours down the tube and we’ve got 260 hours left in the month.  In the morning I like to have an hour from alarm clock to starting the car to take care of the three S’s and get pretty for my day.  ZAP 30 more hours down the tube and we’ve got 230 left.  I spend 2 hours at the gym 3x a week for a full day at the gym per month…24 hours.  WHAM…gone.  204 hours left.  Since this is the 24th day of the month and thus far player X averages 6.4 hours per day (154hours divided by 24 days) we need to give them that to finish out the rest of the month.  6.4 hours x 6 days = 38.4 hours.  Tack that on to their 154.5 hours is 193 hours total for the month projected.

Player X has 11 hours of the month left to cook dinner, eat his dinner, release his waste from dinner, do laundry, pay bills and do ‘things’ like things that include having friends, going to the bar and maybe seeing a movie.

Let’s not forget the time we spend waiting in line somewhere, traffic, getting gas or other stuff in this life that takes time…11 hours isn’t anything so it’s safe to say that something listed above is sacrificed in the normal hustle and bustle.

The conclusion I draw from this is that Player X has no life other than Aces high.

It’s time to take a look at their AH stats because if your life is to play the game…you’d think they would be pretty good.

Since today involved incidents fighter vs. fighter we’ll look there.  Player X’s fighter stats are 327 kills over 219 sorties and 125 other-than-landing outcomes.  2.71 kill to death ratio and a 1.49 kill to sortie ratio.  7.4 kill per hour and he scores hits 4.8% of the time based on his hit percentage.  Overall fighter rank…200.

My stats for the month are 27 hours in game for a just over an hour per day average.  163 kills over 118 sorties with 65 non-landing outcomes.  2.62 Kills per death, 1.38 kills per sortie and a 10.857% hit percentage for 9.252 kills per hour.  Overall fighter rank…44.

Comparing them side by side that player X has a slight advantage over me in both kills per death and kills per sortie.  I am slightly out front with kills per hour and have a marked improvement over player X for hit percentage.

Overall…I’d have to say player X has no life and I have just made mine equally pathetic by taking the time to figure this out and post for all to see.  In addition, player X has very little to show for his pathetic existence because in attack, bomber and vehicle scores I also excel.  There is also evidence of very much milk running on undefended strategic targets as shown by high bomber points and very few bomber kills.  As I understand…this is a method of padding one’s score and rank and bolstering themselves in the eyes of fellow point weenies.

RManiac…you stink.

That was actually a very interesting read.  I don't know why it was, and I don't know why you bothered to make it, but it was interesting nonetheless.

Anyway, it makes me feel better about my own addiction :aok

Don't feel bad, 2nd day back from being gone 2+ years I was blasted on channel 200 (just figured it out btw) that I was a Hobag and all sorts of other nice names.  Killing the above mentioned 3 times in 3 sorties was worth its weight in channel 200.  Have yet to do a milkrun, but I hear its good for the body (reverse advertising maybe?).

I think it is funny that peeps can become internet commandos on their puters over night.  Desktop Generals are hard to find, but in the MA they are everywhere

My wife only gives me certain times that I can play with toy airplanes.
But if she  even looks like she is going to say s**t about my boat and when I can go offshore for whatever is running that day the bi**h is outta here. By the way who was it ...when I get back in the game I'll go straight at him.... Hispanos blazzing.

I got HO'ed today by someone at A1 too ;)

But it is the MA, not the DA we are in, with pre-arranged rules. Anything goes in the MA.

FiLtH...seems I remember you from AW...or was that CrUd. My memory must be getting better. Usually I can't remember what I had for breakfast.

Someone called me a no skill dweeb once, I was honoured.  That was of course after he chose to turn fight his dora against my La7, after he "extended" for half a sector, and had a typhy (who eventually died as well) dive on me constantly.  Quite frankly, being a no skill dweeb is almost as big of a compliment as being called a cheater.

I just re-read my post and the film might not make sense to those who wern't there.  I recall being told I couldn't shoot, bad aim yadda yadda and I take offense to such things because I (in real life) have competed in rifle, pistol and sporting clay competetions and fare quite well.

Hence my addition of the film and the inclusion of the hit percentage.  Thank goodness for stats...because I don't stink as much as I thought I did :)

I remember scoring just one kill on you today...don't know if it was a headon or a quartering type deflection shot but for some reason the pizza guy avatar popped into my head.  honest.  that's scary :(

That's just it, I remember the one comment of why didn't you engage me.  For one, I am still re-learning this game, and my skills are not what I consider to be adequate to go tooling around on the deck at 100 mph with a crap load of cons around :P  2.  I ran into wreackage and it took a chunk out of my plane.  3.  I like to step back and observe what is going on, see what I can and can't engage and weigh the options.  Also I am still learning combat against the different rides, and I just started flying the ki-84 last night.  Give me time, and I will gladly take those offers :P  Oh and it was 4 times I killed him not the 3 as I had posted above, had to make sure so I checked on the stats page :P

Even though I think you are a putz Golfer :D  you have kilt me once that I know of, and I even gave you a because you deserved it.

Either way, ignore the tard who berated you.  You hit the nail on the head and obviously they have no life outside of this game.  Did you blow up back at him?

Maybe they will do something about this unknown player. He calls everyone names, accuses all of somehow unfairly killing him,  and I heard was banned before. Maybe it's time again??? Better yet how about a permasquelch key so we can all ignore his childish tyrants.

Poor Poor Golfer....He just wishes he could learn to fly.
He'd rather bash peeps on the BBS, why?
Cause he's jealous, maybe.
But he sounds like a baby.
Will he ever learn, probably not, but maybe.

SHawk, tell him to DA me, and I will promise him the recognition he so hopes for!  If not, then I kicka his arse around the boards and the MA!  He talks way too much watermelon to not have any fighter skills and you know it!  Its one thing to talk it an go to DA and get arse handed to you, maybe thats best.  But to talk as much watermelon as he does, he needs to go and learn some watermelon first!

I'm not really one for bashing except when it come to those with award winning mullets;)
My "bashes" are creative, entertaining and thoughtful.  A contrast to the unevolved and crude mudslinging common to the boards as well as political campaigns.  Take your song (http://www.daisycandles.com/system/shawk.wav) for example.  Thoughtful, creative and funny. :)
