add a russian bomber, im pressed on time, heres a link with valid sources
PE-8 (http://www.russianwarrior.com/STMMain.htm?1941vehicle_Pe8history.htm&1)
ill write more later

to sumarize all info on the link, this was a fairly rare large bomber, it could hold about 4000kgs-500kgs. loadouts specify that it was a carpet bomber over a large bomb kinda plan, BUT it did hold one HUGE 5000kg bomb, about 11,000 lb bomb. that could be little to big, but this plane would be nice to see, and would be a vicious anti cv bomber, due to the 40 X 100kg bomb loadout. its ceiling as about 23k, and top speed at this is about 270 mph, slow plane. but long range. it has 2 20mm cannons and 4 7mm guns. mounted(as far as i can tell) 2 7mm guns in the nose. the dorsal and tail gunners had a single ShVAK 20mm cannon., i found information elswhere that there were crewman in the engine compartments firing 12.7mm guns

Hooah lets get this beast

Pretty rare. It was definitely NOT a priority for the Soviet air force. They were by far a tactical force. Short range low alt precision support stuff. The Pe2 and Tu2 would be far better Soviet bombers to add. They were made in the thousands and helped win the war. The Pe8? The few that were made were but a drop in the bucket compared to other planes. It's like asking for the B-17C -- the stats might look good but in reality it did next to nothing to win the war.
If IL2 is any indication it's a large bomber. I mean LARGE.
-
what about the Tu-4:D
-
You bastage, I thought I'd mis-named the Tu2.
Don't do that to me :) You know very well the Tu4 was a post war cold war nuclear bomber.
-
The Tu-4 was a RUSSIAN copy of the B-29 from WW2.Some B-29's were either badly damaged or low on fuel so they landed in Russia. I think Stalin was the president of Russia at the time he let the bomber crews return to the states but he kept the B-29's. He later had the B-29's copied which manufactured the Tu-4. Those copy cats:aok

please drop the B29 thing raider, it's not going to happen any time soon
-
The TU4 was based on B29s (3) that were forced down in Russia. The crews were returned. The bombers were not. The Tu4 is a POST war copy. Made AFTER the war, when the cold war was heating up and Soviet Russia needed a way to deliver its nukes to distant lands (you know, go new places, kill new people, make new map borders, etc).
The TU4 was a near identical copy (down to the very tires themselves) but it was post war for nuke hauling. It had an unimportant career, aside from the "Shock the squares in the West" factor, as Soviet Russia quickly turned to ICBMs to move nukes around.
EDIT:
please drop the B29 thing raider, it's not going to happen any time soon
^-- agreed.

:huh I didn't say anything about the wanting the B-29:huh I was just giveing the history of the Tu-4

back on subject guys. i didnt ask for any cold war nookerz, just a mid war bomber.
-
I would like to see the Pe-8, but like krusty said, there are more significant Soviet bombers which I would rather see first like the Pe-2.

here is a site with tons of ww2 stuff check it out:aok

I think we need at least 4 VVS bombers total... 2 of them optional but would be nice. 2 early war (IL4 and SB2) for scenarios. Of these the IL4 was probably the less common of the two, so it would be optional. And 2 mid/late war (Pe-2 and Tu-2) for general use (and scenario use). The Pe-2 is a must, whenever they get around to it. The later war 1944 Tu4 performed better (was faster and better weaponry/bombload) but is optional.
My thoughts on VVS bombers. General bombers I'd like to see: He111 (rather light load, though), Ju188/388, Halifax, Sterling, Blenheim, Mitsubishi B2M (precursor to the Betty, but it was pre-war, so we'll never see it), Handley Page Heyford (pre war, well never see it, but I've GOT to build a model of this thing someday before I die!), the G3M betty, and of course...
The number 1 bomber I'd like to see in AH but NEVER will, is:
The Junkers Ju86! (it's a sweet fusion of ugly and elegant)*
*= or maybe I'm just sick
-
so u checked out the site:aok
-
Er, nope... It's just that I've thought about it before :)
I've got a few books on the subject (ww2 bombers) so I already had some thoughts about VVS bombers.
EDIT: Checked the site out now. It's decent but doesn't have info on all the planes listed at the top of the page.

I'm all for anything that will carry a 5,000Kg bomb.
-
that bomb would be hte size of a volkswagen
-
A VW bus maybe
