Hey Laz ,  'i got a Healey ??????? .

You have a Rack n pinion in yours ? and if you do is it rear or front steer ? and if so what rack was used  ? (Omni, pinto, bmw, zcar, ... ect ect )

I got one to fix that has a stupid shorty nascar type rack w/ 3 inna bind joints ,rubbin the rad , and its throw is too short (6 1/4 inches ) when it needs at least 7.5 or 8in total rack travel  to get full turning radius otta it  . I can go either way for mounting front or rear  ,  and yes ive narrowed  racks befor  . 23 inch frame rails so the rack needs to be 17- 19

thanks

That's what I immediately thought of. You wore one of those at the Chino Air Show.

whoa rosco.... slow down... what year and type of Healey?

I use the stock steering box... those with big Healeys in my club that have rack and pinion have had em for years and use MG racks... Big Healeys have the rack mounted in front of the front crossmember (such as it is).

LOL

Japan's an interesting one. Make a country FREE - by dropping two atomic bombs on it. :rofl

Iraq? Hmm... just watched a programme last night about Iraqis who are turning to "prescription" drugs like Prozac and Valium, just to get over the pain of their daily existence. The only thing is, they can just buy them at the store, over the counter without prescription - nobody cares any more.

Maybe we should have let WW3 go ahead. The US and Russia could have bombed each other's interests. We would be bombed back to the stone age, but hey, a few billion people would be killed (a mere pittance, and a price worth paying in the name of freedom!) but those of us left would be... FREE! :aok

hmm.. the uk guys seem a bit..... jealous.

I like the cat t shirt.

rosco.... seriously... go to this site http://www.ntahc.org/modifiedhealeys/index.html

I know most of these guys.. my car is on the site.  there is some articles on rack and pinion etc...

The best thing I did for my 55 was to add the bilstien tube shocks and a sway bar.

Oh... and 20 years ago we had a store here in my little town in kalifornia that had two gas pumps outside... was a convienence store with a small delli in it and it sold all types of liquor and had a gunsmith 3 days a week behind the counter where rifles pistols shotguns and ammo were sold.

you could fill up with gas, grab a sandwich and a 12 pack and buy a used shotgun off the rack and a couple of boxes of shells and go.

I bet the pump monkey had an oily rag that hung from the pocket of his overalls, and offered to wipe your windscreen. He would have left the gas pumping into your car while he did that, and I bet the pump went DING with each gallon pumped! :)

Well, I guess they learned from their mistakes. Nowadays, every gas station I saw in CA you had to pay in advance, or use a CC at the pump.

It was the same when I was  in england except that the prices were three times higher and you had a better chance of being mugged or pickpocketed.

When I was in Arizona a few years ago I saw a sign outside a store advertising itself as:

"Drugs and Ammo"

What a wonderful combination.

:rofl

You clearly did not come round here - no advance payment necessary, but there are numberplate recognition systems on the forecourt.

Who is Gomer?

Our grocery store was kinda like what you describe Lazs, only without the gas pumps.  The owners slaughtered their own hogs in the back and did some really excellent BBQ pork sandwiches at lunch time when I was in school for like 50 cents each.  That was the big deal once you got into high school,  you could walk off the school grounds to eat.  They didnt let us drive (if you were old enough), so alot of us drove and parked in town by the store, and then walked there for lunch.  Then we could go cruising for half an hour before we had to park and walk back to school.

I think the entire grocery store could have fit in my office.  They had a small shelf with shotgun shells and .22s by the cash register and one of those big metal coolers behind the counter with the glass bottles of soda for 30 cents.  You had a choice of Pepsi, Coke, RC, Mt. Dew and Ski.  They didnt sell guns, but there was a bulletin board inside the door, and there was usually several posted for sale.
