Just thought it would be a productive topic.
I have my own thoughts however I will keep them to myself for now.

Good Question Nomak....
I think the ACM from my B (Bowel) F (friggin) M (movement) comes when that thing is just leaving the hangar and about to crash in the ocean. It causes a splash. AT that moment your rearend must do some fancy ACM to dodge that shot from below. Otherwise your tail is wet and feels funny.:rofl :cry
-
*waits for skuzzy to say "That's just inappropriate!"* :rofl
-
When does BFM become ACM?
When you're under fire, of course!
My regards,
Widewing

Sorry Nomak...I was just funnin...sorry for Hijack...just hit me funny.
-
when your lag hits 300ms+??
:huh
-
When you are picking up the pieces of your keyboard off the floor.
-
The simplest of answers would be when one starts to put different BFM's together in a way which in turn leads to ACM.
Take a Roll. A BFM. Half roll into inverted then pull positive and until you come out lvl going in the oposite direction and you have a split S.
-
BFM gets your plane from A to B...ACM is when B is enemies tail

LOL, I was gonna say:
... when you start to maneuver in a fight. According to what the other plane does and where you want to get to and not according to what the textbook says the maneuver should look like.
But i guess its a moot point now :).

When you realize the other guy has the advantage.

Oh really?
Maybe sometimes.
I've seen guys under fire run... Is that ACM too? Maybe in today's Aces High it is though? Seems to be a well practiced "maneuver".
Not arguing with you... Just saying.

hmm this says?
http://www.simhq.com/_air/air_004a.html
(Look at BFM Lesson 2 - The Basics )
ACM = 2 vs 1
BFM = 1 vs 1
or am i just reading wrong stuff?
-
Same thing I was going to post, navajoboy. Under fire or not, 1 vs 1 should always be BFM, while ACM is 2 vs 1 and ACT (air combat tactics) is BFM applied to an unlimited number of fighters... the same definitions are given in this unclassified Air Force document: Operational brevity words, definitions, and counterair communication standards (U), AFTTP 3-1.1, Change 1, 23 November 2001, ATTACHMENT 1-1 (http://www.f4hq.com/default.php?page=Documents) (the second last in the page).

I heard you speak of the Lakota tradition of mourning in another thread, yet you are Navajo. I at one time studied the Lakota Souix and there plight from 1868-1880. Do you also study the Lakota, or just familiar with their traditions?

Ok sorry to hijack this thread but..
I'm full blooded Navajo from Lukachukai Az living in North Dakota. I work for the Standing Rock tribe. Also im married to a wonderful but mean lakota woman and have two lil Nava-kotas running around. Being a traditionist (Navajo) i get to dab into Lakota traditions when i get the chance and when such information is avaliable. i like to compare my tradition to the lakotas.
As for death, honor is always given to the dead. The lakotas do so by carrying the soul of the dead for a year, then hold a memorial every year in their honor.... This honor is very unsual because the family that deals with the death "honors" by giving away valuables to other families. Ok let me explain... They HONOR by giving away valuble blankets and starquilts and other various items.
Now as for navajos we are completely different, We honor the dead by respecting them as they remind on the earth for the 4 days after their death. During this time we don't do things such as be outdoors at nite and Not Wash or Shower (sounds gross and very hard to do). After the 4th morning life returns to normal. So anyways there is a lil history for you.

Thank you very much, Nav, for your time sir and I am as well sorry about the thread hijack. I would like to know more about both and have a couple of books that you might like to read on the Lakota day by day experience for the 4 years before littlebighorn and on through wounded knee. The author is extremely detailed almost to the point of overkill, which is what intertested me. If I am not mistaken, there were some navajo that scouted for custer and the 7th back then. Oooops! (new thread needed) Sorry Nomak!
