The Associate Press seems to differ:
AUBERVILLIERS, France - Marauding youths torched nearly 900 vehicles, stoned paramedics and burned a nursery school in a ninth night of violence that spread from Paris suburbs to towns around France, police said Saturday. Authorities arrested more than 250 people overnight — a sweep unprecedented since the unrest began.
For the first time, authorities used a helicopter to chase down youths armed with gasoline bombs who raced from arson attack to arson attack, national police spokesman Patrick Hamon said
With 897 vehicles destroyed by daybreak Saturday, it was the worst one-day toll since unrest broke out after the Oct. 27 accidental electrocution of two teenagers who believed police were chasing them. Five hundred cars were burned a night earlier.
In a particularly malevolent turn, youths in the eastern Paris suburb of Meaux prevented paramedics from evacuating a sick person from a housing project, pelting rescuers with rocks and torching the awaiting ambulance, an Interior Ministry official said.
A nursery school was badly burned in Acheres, west of Paris.
Unrest, mainly arson, was reported in the northern city of Lille, in Toulouse in the southwest and in the Normandy city of Rouen. It was the second night that troubles spread beyond the difficult Paris suburbs.
Most attacks have been in towns with low-income housing projects, areas marked by high unemployment, crime and despair. But in a new development, gangs have left their heavily policed neighborhoods to attack others with fewer police, spreading the violence.
In Torcy, east of the capital, looters set fire to a youth center and a police station, which were gutted, city hall said. An incendiary device was tossed at the wall of a synagogue in Pierrefitte, northwest of Paris.

Maybe not just in Paris, but a whole bunch of the Paris region seems to be quite warm, and I dont think it is related to global warming.
The term Ironic might come to mind when one considers how the French have pretend they are a superior nation compared to others, and how they have critisized the US. Seems they might need to look inside before they continue to finger point outside.

Much as I would like to make fun of this I can't do so. This is not a minor situation. I wish them luck in getting this settled down and working on keeping it from happening again.

They can blow second smoke in the bad guys faces and hope to give them cancer.

Come on now. I know its funny to bash the French. I've done my share. But the folks on the street, for the most part, have always been supporters of the US and Americans in general. What's happening over there is horrible. Its not the politicians who are getting roasted.
The stale baguettes comment was funny though.

We had a "nationalistic" demonstration here in Msk yesterday.
"Echo of Moscow" radio made a poll on possibility of migrant riots here. Majority thinks that it's impossible now. Let's wait until Russians and other Slavonic people will be a minority, I think that in no more then 10 years it will happen... "Native" Muscovites don't want to drive buses or work as yardkeepers, so - we get what we deserve.
Fortunately - we are not rich enough to become a target for welfare-hungry migrants. If they'll not have the jobs - they'll not come.
My cousin in Chernovtsy, Western Ukraine, showed me huge houses in his district, and said that they belong to people who do construction work in Moscow. They earn enough money to hire Romanian/Moldavian gastarbeiters to build them houses. I only wonder who builds houses for that Romanians...
Cousin is a doctor on an ambulance car. I am an engineer in Academic institute. We both earn much less then above-mentioned construction workers.
Here we have gastarbeiters, in Europe they have welfare parasites...

Just remembered a story about Chechen refugee camps in Ingushetia. They lived on "humanitarian aid", never worked and refused to clean their own ****. They were ****ing refugees and proud of it, cleaning their camps was inappropriate for them, it was a job for Russian gyaur dogs.

I honestly hope they get it under control soon.
