1 there are no blank skins. you have to make your own..use save skin as template.
2 yes you can use adobe
3 yes you can fly them .. but only offline..
good luck and im looking forward to seeing some stuff

Unlike Il2, AH has no rivet and panel line template. When you save a skin, it gives you the actual texture where you then make your own panel lines and rivets.

Thanks Guys
but im still stuck if i use save skin it has roundels and a color sceam already. am I doing somthing wrong?
-
Thats correct. When you save a skin, it saves the bitmap of the default skin. AH doesn't allow you to select roundels or squadron codes, etc from the hanger. Instead, you as the skinner add those.
What you do is create everything from scratch using the default bitmap as a layout for where everything goes. Just paint over it with different layers, etc.

Thanks guys
I made the skin but it wont show in the game offline?? I saved it to 256 color
and renamed the folded with a one at the end like it said to do
What did I do wrong? sorry to be a pain.
:o

Make sure you rename the folder the skin is in. Example, if the default folder you "Save skin as..." is 109F4, you need to add a "1" to the end of that. Or a 2... or up to 15 I believe. So you can have multiple offline skins at once.
EDIT: The 109s are being remodeled as we speak. You should wait until they're done. Chances are the skins we have now won't fit perfectly onto the model we're about to get.

thanks I did do that
i saved as bmp 24 bit also
i copyd from default folder the wings and sides painted the droped them in the new folder renamed it 109g101. I only put what I painted in the new folder i saved it as bmp @ 24 bit thats 256 color corect?
Thanks Im almost there I think

no, 24bit is millions of colors. You want 8 bit.

WOOPSY..
That explains it what I did was save it in 24 but I ran it through a a progran that is suposed to convert 24 bit into 256 so you end up with a really crisp skin but I dont tyhink aces high will alow the compresion in that state thanks alot Ill redo it

use bright : http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=141140

Well, if you save it, then run the conversion, you usually have to save it again. Example: I save my PSD file then export to bright, and it asks me to pick a file name and saves it again. If you're just testing, you can go to Image > Mode > Indexed and choose "Adaptive" from the type box and "8 bit" from the second drop box. Doesn't always look the best, but if you're still working on the skin give it a shot.
Having said that, sometimes it looks better than bright, sometimes bright looks better than it.
Straffo, are there any other conversion tools out there, like bright? I'd be interested in comparing some of them.

Tahnks alot guys will do bright is the one I use aswell I will play with it
you have me ontrack now
Thanks again

You do know about the skin viewer, right?
-
yeah I use bright also to convert psd 24 bit BMP to 8 bit 256 color.
I would also strongly suggest researching the aircraft you are skinning to get accurate panel and rivet lines and details with photographs and as many artists drawings as you can get.
don't depend on the default skin for accuracy because in some cases its pretty innacurate
