Title: Offline Speed
Post by: slimpikn on November 06, 2005, 08:58:43 PM
I don't know if this has anything to do with the arena lockout, but my offline game is running about 10 times speed.

I've had this intermittently too. From previous discussions wiuth skuzzy, it apparently is a known bug realted to AMD processors -- and they havent had an adequate work around for the processor flaw in that situation.

However, I have an Intel 2.6 GHz processor. I'd be interested in knowing if you do too.

I've found the problem will disappear in one of two ways:

1) sometimes its a simple matter of exitng and reentering the program. It may also respond to a system reboot.

2) More often, i seem to run into the problem when I use nonstandard offline maps -- for example, if I change the offline arena map to FinRus or something. In those cases, I just need to change the map. (Which does require a game restart anyway.)

Incidentallly, I had the problem crop up again after the server connect problem too. I cant imagine there'd be a connection, but it is kinda weird that we both ran into it....

I don't run AMD, and I still have star trek offline mode.

BTW it would sure be nice in offline mode if stuff shot back. How about planes and GV's only attacked you if you pinged them? Course that involves AI. Real Intelligence is hard enuf to come by (no reference to the fine game programmers btw) ;-)

FWIW

I was running into the same problem with offline mode (AMD64 3500, Geforce 6800 GT) and the work around I found was to start AH2 take a plane up and tehn get out of the program .On the second time in I would be at regular speed.

I just upgraded my drivers for my 6800  to 81 series WHQL certified and it would appear the problem has disappeared

I've had this happen a bunch of times on both a Celeron 2.6 and a Pentium 4 3.0/HT...FX5200 and 6800 cards respectively.

Game runs normal for me offline.  I have a AMD64 3200+ 1 gig ram using a ATI X800XL 256 meg card.
