Title: Wooden props
Post by: Krusty on November 07, 2005, 09:53:22 AM
It just hit me while looking at a screenshot I took of a 190, where it had ditched and the props had bent back: The 190 had wooden props!

Come to think of it, so did a lot of other planes!

So how about for wooden prop planes we just shatter the prop blades off instead of curling them back?

Just a thought.

I just did a quick test and the new 190 model has a wooden prop that breaks off on ground strike.  Is your screen shot of the old 190 before it was redone?  What other planes had wooden props?  I always like to check the game for accuracy...

The picture I have posted in this thread is from a Dora and it obviously has a wooden prop.

Just tested out all 190s.

190A-5 Metal
190A-8 Metal
190D Wooden
190F Metal

So only 1 190 has wood props and thats the Dora.

I think they started useing wood more, late in the war, due to limits on metal from allied bombing etc?
