This may be a frame rate issue but here goes.
When I crash, auger, or get shot down, my plane explodes and thats it. Everything is vaporized.
What would it take to have a crashed plane to stay on the ground and burn and / or smoke for an extra 30 seconds to a minute or even two? It would make more smoke, and flames but in a huge attack would add a huge factor of realism and chaos. The same for tanks that are blown up. Imagine a ton of crashed planes on the ground burning as as the attack ensues!!
Secondly, when a base is on fire, making a small cloud of smoke over the base would be cool too. It would make bases harder to re-attack but thats the way it was anyway. Or would this totally eat frame rates for lunch?

You could make it a graphics option.
"How long should debris stay on the field?"
The real problem (I believe) would not be Frame Rate problems, but server problems (I.E. More lag).

It would be neat, but AHII has a lot of frame rate issues already (IMO) (and smoke is one of the biggest frame eaters). I'd rather see other things get attention first.

Yeah, I agree with the other 2. Great idea pigface, one I'd really like to see. But then I think of fighting over tank town of furball island and the warping and lagging. It makes me cringe. Hopefully in the future there will be better servers and this will be a possiblity, I think it would add a lot to the game.

I like this idea. Make it a setting for the individual PC. If you find your frame rates taking a big hit turn it down. I'm pretty sure my machine would be able to handle a little more eye candy without to many problems. It would be nice to see, and film:D

If a plane crashes (and I mean really crashes, like nose down or something) there's not going to be much at all left of it. I've seen some pics of downed planes... They're mostly just small blobs of twisted metal and maybe part of an engine sticking out. I don't think there'd be much to display in most crashes. However, if the plane were to make a temorary crater on the surface it hit, but instead of looking like a bomb crater it looked like a black scorch mark (from the fire/explosion of impact) that might be more do-able.

thanks for the replies. As I figured, and it dont have to be high on the priority list. I do like the idea of it being individually adjustable. I was just thinking how clean an airfield is after a battle... "James Bond hair".
Its still a wish, I just wait ill Christmas and check under the tree. Go ahead and check that (naughty/nice) list twice Santa... I'm contesting half them entries anyway! You'll hear from my lawyer!
