The 109G6 lost its 30mm, but I can live with that. My question is about the 20mm weapon load. If the F4 and the G2 both had the same gun, and both of them can carry an optional load of 200 rounds (instead of default 150 rounds), why can't the G6? There's not that much difference between G2/G6 airframe wise.
I don't know the specifics about the 109G6s armament load, so I thought I'd ask.

Krusty f4 & G2 had 7 mm while the G6 had 12mm, takes up more room .
I am just guessing though.

CC, does anybody know for sure? Because while the 13mm take up more room, they also have less ammo than the 7mms.
-
Krusty the 7 mm is quite a bit smaller than 13 mm. Just do a quick google on the size of the rounds.

G-6 should have 200 rounds of 20mm like all 109s with Mg151/20.
-
200 round was max capacity, in practice they loaded less then max to avoid issues with jamming. However, AH doesn't model 'jamming' so it should of course have 200 rounds.
Search the old posts on this subject...
It has nothing all to do with 13mm or 7mm...

Yes it should.
I have a feeling that the reason pyro added 200 option for the G-2/F-4 but not for the G-6 comes from this thread (http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=111725&highlight=rounds).
Grunherz asked if the document I posted was for the G-2. As it could be seen from the date it was for the G-2 but basically all the documentation that finns ever got about the 109Gs when they came to Finland was for G-2 only. As so little was different between regular G-6s and G-2s that came to Finland that any additional documentation wasn't really needed (they got the manuals for MG 131s, of course).
So I don't have any "G-6 specific" documentation to prove it but the 20mm ammo box located in the left wing of the G-6 was exactly the same size as it was in G-2. So yes, G-6 should also have 200 20mm rounds as does the G-2. G-14 should aswell. The ammo box had the same size in all of these planes. There was no technical reason to make it smaller.
EDIT/The document in that thread I gave a link to is offline, I'll try to upload it tonight./EDIT

If I read that right, the gondolas can carry 140 rounds per gondola, instead of our 125, as well.

for anyone that doesnt know, the 7mms and 13mms are the same bullets (with little manufacturing varience) as the .303s. and hte .50 cals. they just have different names, because the germans, italians, etc. used the metric system as opposed to the us/british standard system.
7mm=.303/.30 caliber
13mm=.50 caliber
just thought i would inform the masses who dont want to search for the metric-standard conversions
-
no 13mm gun is 51 caliber gun.
-
Also note that, while the bore size was roughly the same, the rounds were not identical. API 50cal is far far different from MG131 (13mm), which actually had a rotation of 13mm cannon rounds, 13mm solid rounds and 13mm API rounds in the feed belts. The powder volume and ballistics and hitting power is very different as well. In AH it seems like they're just weak 50cals.

Thanks Butch!!

Just to nitpick, but the 7mm in the 109 is actually 7.92mm, more commonly refered to as 8mm Mauser (.323 cal).

You're completely wrong. Your're so wrong it makes me suspect you've never fired a gun in your life (squirt guns don't count).

So basically a .30 carbine round is 'bout the same thing as a .300 Winchester Magnum? There is a bunch of other factors involved besides caliber.

So, if this guy is right, then I should be able to feed 7.62x39, 7.62x54R, and 7.62x51 NATO into my SKS, because they're all 7.62 bullets? Wow, who'da thunk.
:rolleyes:
