Title: New plane speeds...
Post by: Grits on November 10, 2005, 08:08:37 PM
Speeds  mil/wep OTD with 100% fuel. Old models like the G-6 and Spit 9 are in for refrence and weapon changes noted.

F-4     310/332 (no gondola option now)
G-2    320/339 (unchanged)
G-6    316/336 (no 30mm option now)
G-14  316/345 (20 or 30mm and gondola options)
K-4    337/367 (old G-10 with only 30mm option, no gondolas)

Spit5b 289/303 (12+ boost, 60 RPG for 20mm)
Seafire 289/303 (12+ boost, 120 RPG for 20mm)
Spit8   310/337 (no .50 cal option)
Spit9   310/321 (no .50 cal option)
Spit16 315/342 (.50 cal, no .303 option)

Basically with the Spits what we get is the old AHI Spit V but with only 60 round per gun for the Hispanos. This is a very early SpitV, but the Seafire is now the same as the AHI SpitVc with 12+ boost and 120 RPG in the Hispanos.

With the 109's the K-4 is the old G-10 with no gondolas or 20mm spinner option. The G-14 is the same as the old G-6 (20mm, or 30mm and gondolas) but with considerably better speed with WEP. The new G-6 performance is unchanged, but there is no longer a 30mm spinner option. The G-2 and F-4 are unchanged performance wise, but the F-4 loses its gondola option.

Looks like there can be some very interesting matchups for the CT in particular '41-'42 and '43-'44 ETO and N Africa.

Thanks for taking the time to test the speeds, Grits. Did you check the spit14?

I made a post in the other forum, but the 109E is porked for roll rate. It's back to AH1 standards. So is the K4 (back to AH1 G10 standards). G6/G14 both fly like G6 in AH2. 109 F4 rolls like it's in the mud until it hits 150-175 then it rols like AH2 standards. I didn't test G2, I presume it's same as F4.

LOL...Krusty, the F-4, G-2, G-6 and K-4 (the old G-10) flight model are unchanged, they only got a new 3D model. I am going to go with the same thing as I did with the 190's, if HT had changed the flight models, they would have noted it in the release notes.

Yes Shane, lack of gondolas on the F-4 is a bummer.

No, I'm serious. Take a E4 up. It rolls like AH1 did. BIG difference. F4 rolls just as bad until a certain speed. I can't be 100% that's new, but I don't remember it doing that. K4 is much slower rolling than the old G10.

Just because they don't SAY they made changes, doesn't mean something they did changed something else.

190s from AH1 to AH2 is proof of this :P

Why not?  It is the boost rating that Spit Mk Is used in WWII.  The old boost rating was a pre war rating.

Ah.  I am thinking that the Spitfire Mk Ia may now actually be a better fighter than the Hurricane Mk I.

Now if we can only get the same change to the Bf109E-4 and Bf110C-4b so that the to world beater fighters actually seem like the two world beater fighters.

I think the problem is not in the Spit or the 109E, but in the Hurr1 and the 110c. The 110c is a veritable spitfire for tight turns, and Schatzi, one of the leading hurr1 fans, claims up and down that the hurr1 is an easy mode plane and any pilot can get kills in it.

With the 109E back to being a slow-rolling dog (think AH1) all we need is to de-emphasize the hurr1 and 110c. That won't happen until they're upgraded to AH2 graphic standards, it seems. Oh well... "2 weeks", eh?

What about the gun pods…a lot of pilots had the option of these…they found that -

Oh, I never… I hated them!!  I never had them on my airplane.  As soon as I got a new airplane… I say, “That’s a damn part, off with them!”...Made it sluggish, you know.
