Hi everyone,
First let me state the new planes are great! Wonder when the 16 will be perked....LOL....
I have noticed along with a bunch of my squaddies that we are experiencing numerous "microfreezes". Some are noticing lockups.
Several others are experiencing CTD's and others in the arena are posting this as well.
These were not occuring prior to the new patch. Just thought I'd post on it....Skuzzy any thoughts????

Did you enable the loading of skins? Disable it and see if that helps.
-
Skuzzy,
I have tried it both ways....with the enabled skins off and with the enabled skins on. Still the similar problem.
As for reproducing it.....it appears that it happens when I am getting ready to engage a set of buffs, diving towards a furball near the ground, and when in turns moving left and right.
The freezes slowed down (less frequent) as the night wore on but were still evident even after 4 hours with the new update.
On a side note.....several squaddies were getting lockups and CTD's although I have not experienced them at all.
Thanks for the quick response....
Regards,
Mike:)

Did the mini-warps smooth out as you got closer (within 1000)?
-
I get them as well, nothing before the patch. When closing on acft and also when changing views..side, back, up and so on.
Once or twice with vox.
any ideas

We are trying to get anyone to send us a film showing the anomaly. We have not been able to duplicate it, or duplicate exactly what we think players are seeing (which may be the whole issue).
Please send us a film of the event. It would be appreciated. Thank you.
-
Skuzzy I will film all my flights next time up. Which will most likely be Sat or Sun night late. Have brother in town on vacation.
Hope this helps you all out.

Skuzzy,
New patch has micro freezes for me.....and now I am getting CTD's....filming now will try to duplicate it.

Skuzzy, i had also small 'freezes'. Its like the game is on pause for a few milliseconds, then continues normally. They do *not* show on film (even though film viewer showed other strange stuff - see post in bug forum).
They seem to be occuring when i activate voice transmission or sometimes when i look around (keypad). Not consistently.
-
Same as well for me but not apparent during vox transmissions....could not get it to duplicate in any of the films from last night. I will be afk for about a week as I have to return to albuquerque to do some flying. I will be up next weekend to try it then as well. VERY frustrating on my end.
FYI...this machine ONLY runs AH...nothing else. The only change was the implementation of the new patches....and btw...I was running the game when the server shut down to implement the patch...then was up right after the update.....the microfreezes started right at the update.
Hope this helps.

Same here. Reduced to 512 from the default 1024 to see if that helped.
It hasnt.
Seems most prevelant when chaging views, and other AC are in the area particularly after having the clipboard up.
Example. Clipboard up looking at map, strat, rosters etc.
Put away clipboard and look around or move in on a bogy.
-------pause------------------pause--------------pause
also more fotwen when turning then flying straight ahead
Will pause for a count of 1-1,000 then go smooth. Pull hard and change views to keep bogy in sight(pause)
Will try to remember to turn cam on for a change
Really messes with the SA

I'm having the same problem... didn't happen before the new smoothing patch.
Out of curiosity, is it just AMD folks having a problem?
I have an AMD 4000..

For the most part was problem free tonight cept for what looked like a couple hairs that kept flickering in my upper left part of my windsheild
-
DEfinintly related to vox transmission. I can reproduce the micro-pauses by activating my voice radio transmission.

Now there is a problem I have managed to solve.
At least on my machine
Usually related to Vox and/or sounds.
Typically I get this whenever a new version is released.
I found that if I manually uninstall the game then reinstall the game with the full updated version that problem goes away.
By manually uninstalling I mean going into windows explorer c/program files/HTC/ then manually (or in your case womanually)deleting the entire AHII folder.
For some reason if you use the uninstall option it doesnt work. You havet to delete it yourself.
Its just that for me. That didnt work this time. Though for some odd reason it ran fine for me last night.

Well tonight the minifreezes and stutters were back.
Sending Film in now
Hope it helps
::Edit::
Well I WAS going to send in the film but it seems it exeeds the mail size allowed. and it was returned as undeliverable
I've found the film viewer/editor to be frustrating at best when trying ot work with it in the past but I'll give it another shot.
You realise this all could have been avoided and made life alot easier if we could just name the films after each flight then I could send in a 15 minute film as opposed to a 2+ hour one LOL
and I wouldnt have to tryt o figure out what time it was when it happened for I would already hve had it named "Sutters" or something ;)

I too have the Micro freezes and I know alot or others are as well. They are just not posting the problem. Ill have to film to see were it is happening and send it in. IM Also getting CDT which I have never had before. A few in planes others in GV`s. :(

Had two lockups since new patch. Happened while talking to squaddies on
VOX both times. Did not have any problems before hand.

In your DXDiagnostics applet, click on the Sound tab and set the sound acceleration to 3/4.
To open up DXDiag, click on Start-->Run--> Type "DxDiag" ---> click on Sound tab
I was also getting some CTDs but that I found out was due to installing the new ATI 5.11 drivers and once I uninstalled those and installed the Omega drivers based on the 5.10 drivers, my CTDs stopped.
ack-ack

Yup its the Vox that is causing it on my end for sure.. Happened all night in FT have film but no time to send it in (Going white Tail hunting) in 10 min:D will send it when I get back.
-
Im getting the micro-pauses too, and sometimes CTDs. Its seems to have started sometime around this tour/new version. I also have been doing some overclocking and replacing of soundcards too - so i have confounded the issue something chronic. But it seems to only happen when cycling through views. Doesnt seem to have much to do with me transmitting vox.
My Specs:
XP Pro - SP2
ASUS K8N Mobo.
AMD Sempron 64 2800+
512 Meg PC3200 RAM
Leadtek FX5200 GForce card.
Sound Blaster Audigy (not a Audigy 2) - and off and on back to my built-in mobo AC97 sound card.
-
well im getting the same studder or micro freezes, usually when changing views , or voice transmissions . ive tried alot of different things (too many to list) . even at a high frame rate 100fps (100hrz refresh) the game just isnt smooth . when rolling i always see alittle hitch here and there . when it drop in fps to 60- 70ish, it aggrevates the problem . FWIW 38
-
Well,
I added an additional 1.0 Gig of RAM to the system....and so far the freezes are still there.
Tossing my hands up in surrender on this one.
-
I as well suffer Micro freezes. Seems to happen when i am in Major fights or have fast closing speeds. Sometimes when i am doing alot of evade moves i freeze or strong pull ups
-
It happens to me even in level flight looking left and right with no planes or gvs around....very strange.
-
I get long 20 sec freezes. sometimes the game recovers and jumps ahead (usually with me firmly in the ground), sometimes it crashes and I get the annoying error message and the "do you want to report a bug to microsoft" option.
Still not 100% it is not some hardware issue, but other games run fine. It only started after the spit/109 patch. All cash and skins were cleared.
I tried to capture it on film but with my luck it only happens when I forget to turn on the recording... :furious

I get quite a few micro freezes but have had several 3-4 second freezes. I do have skins enabled & haven't tried changing that option yet. I also am getting lots of shadow flickering when close to ground.

Lockups & microfreezes since new patch :(
-
playing tonight was just pitiful , damage that takes 5 seconds to register , bullets passing threw planes , and the ever present stutter . Everyone is talking about it , everyone ive talked to see's it . I just did a fresh install of my OS and AH,actually upgraded my cpu and hard drive to a 3700+ with 1MB of L2 cache , and a 10k raptor . Made no difference. Im just going to take a break from this until there is a resolution . 38
-
yup,...I get freezes too, when firing guns it locks up for several seconds, sometimes just microfreezes. Then doing nothing it does it to sometimes. Was fine before the last patch or two .

Try setting AA and AF to "application controlled".

Could you please spell that out for someone who doesn't know squat about computers :D?
I'm also getting these freezes. I'm not so sure what a "microfreeze" is, but my game is simply locking up like a painting for a good 2-5 seconds, often when changing views, sometimes when not. This happens maybe six or seven times per hour, but that's just a sortie/event guess. I have also had the game not "register" what I'm doing in the tower for 2-5 seconds.
"Glad" to hear some other people are having this problem. After doing a virus/addware scan I was ready to haul the PC over to the computer repair store and have them do their thing :)

Right click on desktop, select Properties.
Tab all the way to the right says Settings. Click on it.
Bottom right is a button that says Advanced. Click on it.
In the new menuboard that pops up, there will be a tab for your video card. Click on it to bring it to the front. Mine happens to be a GeForce FX5900 Ultra.
Look through your settings till you find Antialiasing and Anisotropic Filtering. Make sure they are set to Application Controlled (usually a check box at the bottom when you highlight that setting control). Make sure Vsync is set to Application Controlled.
Exit out and start Aces High, see if it made a difference. If not, there are other things to try.
By setting these options that have it to "application control" you are forcing the video card to operate at the settings the game thinks is optimal, which may be far lower than what you set them at yourself.

FYI everyone, My problem is solved... Reformated, reinstalled OS, and AH ,Reinstalled cards and drivers. Fixed!!!!!! smoooooth as a babies arse! Very nice update!!! seems problem was on my end :(
S! AH2 tech guys.... Sorry!!! my bad!
My Kid used my pc for her online crap and was screwed up by the internet jerks! Viruses!!!!!!!

Thank you for the detailed instructions SA2, but unfortunately I still get these lockups.
I think tomorrow I might drag the PC down to the computer repair place and have them reinstall/purge the thing and see if that works. I've been having some difficulties with various other programs as well lately, so hopefully this will take care of everything.
-
You might try posting your directx diagnostic report. If there's an obvious problem with a driver or compatibility issue, folks here might be able to spot it and save you spending money on something a repair shop likely wont find either.
If you are experiencing the problem with other programs as well, it could be a driver issue, or you might have damaged components after all. That would be my last guess though.
If you do take it to the shop, have them check the power output from your power supply, and check voltage under a load to make sure
