Title: Thanks from the Spit fanatics
Post by: Guppy35 on November 11, 2005, 12:07:36 AM
Love that Spit XVI.  About as close as I'll get to an XII, but no complaints.  Rolls well, has a bit more pep and is the Spit I'd been hoping for.

Much thanks.

The VIII, IX and the others look great too.  Took the I out for a Spin as well as the VIII to go with the XVI.

Gonna have to remind myself to go back and fly my 38G.

That's it though.  I've got all I want in AH.  Spit XVI, P38G.  All is good :)

You know, I don't fly the spitties much, but I'm going to have to now... When I as testing it [EDIT: the 16] offline I was just thinking "Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayuuuum!!!!!" for 5 minutes straight!

I agree Dan, though there seems to be a storm brewing in calls to perk the Mk XVI.  If it happens you may be forced back into that P-38G just to afford a Spitfire Mk XVI habit.

Sounds like cocaine. ;)  Maybe Dan can get involved with Spit trafficking and have all the Spit his habit requires.

LOL

Well it's not like they're perked that high... Hell I made just short of 60 perks last week in 1 night (few hours flight time). At about 15 perks (current Spit14 rate) that'll last me at least a few days of perk rides :) (and that's being very generous)

I've been in Spit trafficking for 25 years :)  I've got lots of good Spit connections!

Me and some of my boys back in 85(at the 41 Squadron reunion.  Spit drivers all except me of course).  Gotta love them Spits :)

So does that mean we perk anything some of us don't like?  LA7s were still faster on the deck tonite.  Gotta believe the K4 will outrun it.  D9s perked?

Jeez, can't an old Spit fan have a bit of fun without conditions always being imposed on em? :)

if i were a hacker, i'd get past HTC security and unperk everything in the game and add a 30-pt perk to the La-7.  that would be worth being banned for.  hehehe

We'll see.

Heck, I remember there were calls to perk the Mossie VI in the days following it's release and look how that turned out.

In the week after it was released.  I'm not joking either.

Was this during beta? Or after? I don't remember it at all, but I missed the beta testing (didn't have a 3d card til just when AH went public)

Mossie was added in v1.08 in the same patch as the Me262 as I recall.  I think the perk system went live in v1.07.  I'd have to go back and check.  It's been a long time.

That XVI with the clipped wings just looks that good in flight.

Couple of shots from a flight with a squaddie, both in XVIs.

It's a beaut!

I also like that the gear and flap indicators on the upper surface of the Spitfire's wings now work.  You have visual indicator if the flaps or gear are down.

there was at one time calls to perk the Hurri IIC (Hizookas)...

The XVI seems pretty sweet. It climbs real well, rolls well and packs a good punch, of course folks will want it perked. Imagine if it was modeled at 25lb boost. It would cost more the the XIV...

Bruno,

Indeed.  That is why I backed off the +25lbs boost a long time ago.  It was going to be way too much and the performance on the +18lbs version bears out those concerns.  Pyro was right to not give it +25lbs boost.

The Mk XIV could really use the +21lbs to justify being perked though.  Especially give the performance of the Mk VIII and Mk XVI.

Found another source on the 2nd TAF use of 150 octane, before you say "oh please no", hang on. It indicates early Feb 45 for 126 Wing (RCAF)(Invasions Without Tears, by Monty Berger), so again, I think a +25 lb XVIE would have been a mistake. It did use it to be sure...but only in the last 4 months of the war, and at some point game balance and a degree of "what was the most common" does come into play. If it only ever used 150 then I could see making a case for it...

Personally I think its a dream at +18 lbs performance. Perhaps the best dogfighter in AH now, with air ground ord to boot.
