Title: Bomber focus
Post by: uberhun on November 11, 2005, 03:09:27 PM
Now that the new additions are in with the fighter inventory. lets talk about potential bomber additions excluding the 29. The 29 was theater specific. How about the he111, Dornier 17, Wellington, Halifax, etc.etc. What do you guys think?

PAC folks would really enjoy a Betty.  East front could use a twin-engine Bolshevik plane, too.

HE-111 is probably the most glaring MIA in the line-up, a betty would be a nice target too.  I am still going to mention the B-29 because well over 3,000 were built during the war.

Morpeous,
That would probably work. But it really is a true Uber bomber. 35k plus ceiling, extreme loadout and long..........range.

I would have to disagree as it being the MOST glaring MIA. The HE-111 while needed was pretty much used in the ETO, and Med. I count the eastern front as part of the ETO.

The B-25 however was used extensively in every theater of operation, however we don't have it in AH2 yet. The US, Austrailians, British, and Russians flew this plane in combat in it's various versions and missions. I would have to aurgue that this plane should, and deserves, to be at the top of any list of new bombers added to the game.

Tu-2, Pe-8
i remember we used Bostons3 in CT to play russian bombers role, cuz we don't have a russian bomber to do bombing in calibration mode
Tu-2 --(with  340+mph, 6000+lbs load)  would fill up the gap
:)

LOL, I don't see many bombers over 2K anymore!  Oh, there's some that climb out, just not many.  The Question would be: "How well will she pull out of a steep dive?".  :lol

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'd say the He111, Dornier 17,
Wellington and Halifax were pretty theater specific too :lol

Yea........... Let me qualify what I mean't by that. Seeing how the game is dominated by european"Theater" planes those would be appropriate additions. where as the 29 was all pacific:aok

How about the B-25 with the nose cannon?  B-25C? Cant recollect

Dont leave out skip bombs and parafrags.   It'd be fun to drop a mess of parafrags over a bunch of gv's.    =)))

According to boeings website, the B-29 (@ 31,000) had a 4000 foot LOWER ceiling than the B17 (35000 ft)
