His complete failure to deal with the terroist Osama Bin Laden and the subsequent attack against America just after he left office.
It's quite the wonder that man can sleep at night. I am sure it is not hard, on $1000.00 sheets that were paid for in blood by 3030 killed on Sept 11, especially for a man that lies in court.

You couldn't possibly be insinuating that Clinton was a bad president or that he committed a crime? *GASP!*

Yep, lucky we have Bush now to make the world safer and turn that darned economy around.

Well, we saw evil accelerate under Clinton, terrorists acts in the USA went unpunished, and now under Bush the Taliban is a shattered regime, and Al Queda has suffered loss of over 75% of their leaders, Osama Bin Laden is in hiding, and there hasnt been a successful terrorist attack on American soil since 9/11, which happened basically because of Clintons appalling failures to do anything about terrorist around the globe.
So, yes, I would agree that we are luck to have Bush making us safer.
-
Add Clinton and the justice department to the list of Liars.
in 1998, Clinton's Justice Department indicted bin Laden. Count 4 of the indictment has a paragraph that reads.
Al Qaeda also forged alliances with the National Islamic Front in the Sudan and with the government of Iran and its associated terrorist group Hezballah for the purpose of working together against their perceived common enemies in the West, particularly the United States. In addition, al Qaeda reached an understanding with the government of Iraq that al Qaeda would not work against that government and that on particular projects, specifically including weapons development, al Qaeda would work cooperatively with the Government of Iraq.
-
Hehe.. you guys are making my night. Can you show me the "evil acceleration" index for the Clinton years?
And there were exactly how many terrorist attacks on American soil during Clinton's presidency.. after WTC1?
-

Heres something we can agree on.

Yes!

Those numbers are looking damned good considering the economy hit its low point during Clinton's reign (March 2000). Add 9/11 and a war, and its looking damned good!
-
Too bad Clinton did little to turn the economy around.
He didnt haveto as it was already poised for the upswing.
Prior to Clinton ever swearing in I remember economists saying that all Clinton had to do for the economy to improve was abosultely nothing.
On the other hand. He did let the economy run away with resulted in the bubble which inevitably burst. I also remember during the runaway economy greenspan predicting its eventual steep drop if nothing was done and saying and I quote exactly "I would love to stick a pin in this bubble"
Clinton was the benifited by chance because he happened to be president and inherit an economy poised for an an economic upswing.
Bush inherited an economy already on the decline.
It is merely by circumstance that each gets undeserved credit or blame for the economical situations during their presidencies.

Good like that Reagan economy that was built with HUGE deficits.

The economy was peaked 3 years after March 2000, before GW2. No deficit other than 9/11 and Homeland security, sir.

How is it there isn't one US politician impervious to any BS, who knows better than not to take the best from both sides and just get things done right?
He(she?) probably wouldn't have to break records of integrity or accomplishment right away, just show a continuous improvement in leadership.

Never seen so much construction since the Reagan era.... We are currently building a 40k square foot facility in Colorado Springs, with a follow up 100k square foot expansion which does not include exterior amenities to follow up in 2 years.

Incorrect, as are most of your statements regarding Clinton's military history. Look at the old news reports if you care to know the truth. Google is a beautiful thing ;)
I suppose next you are going to say that Clinton (on secret leave from some prep school) was secretly with Kerry on a swift boat in Cambodia too.....
-
"And there were exactly how many terrorist attacks on American soil during Clinton's presidency.. after WTC1?"
USS Cole, being a Navy ship, can be considered US soil. The Embassies in Tanzania and Kenya are by definition US soil. You mentioned 1993 WTC yourself.
Bush's main problem isn't his handling of terrorist issues, it's his total disregard for the gigantic trade deficit and the fact that the leaders of certain industries think (often accurately) that the Bush government will allow them to do whatever they want. As with Reaganomics, this current economic policy basically rests on the hope that the country will be able to pay for it in the future....god help us if we suffer a prolonged recession.

Reviewing the labor department statistics, we see the following
1) The unemployment rate is now lower than during the majority of the Clinton Administration
2) Employment, Hours, and Earnings during the GWB2 years are running pretty equal to the Clinton years.
3) Average hourly earnings have risen steadily during the GWB2 years
4) Consumer Price Index Fluctuates greater during GWB2 than Clinton, but actually goes negative during Bush, never does during Clinton, and on average montly climb is small, but slightly higher than Clinton
These are typical results, the charts are there to see the improvements from Clinton to Bush.

You neglect to mention that Bush delt with a massive terrorist attack, and that Bush is still dealing with Clinton's leftovers (ie Osama).
Bush may not be the best president, but he was better than his Dad, and better than the previous lying POS.

Lazs, correct me if I am wrong but wasnt Koresh gently raping the children of mothers who were under his religious influence, some victims being younger than 12 yeasr of age. In the name of God?......
I despised what BATF did at WACO, but what I despise more is how piss poorly BATF did it. They should have arrested the freak on one of his frequent and poorly guarded trips to town, but instead they had to play John Wayne and got their tulips shot off at the main compound. Only later did a governemnt armored vehicle burn the place down killing so many innocents. And there was born Timothy McVei, who terrorist bombings killed so many more innocents.
And yes, Reno was even worse than Clinton. She returned a child, whos mother died trying to liberate him, back to Cuba.
-
Ironic isnt it that he sent a tank against Koresh in Waco, yet he wouldnt give the Army Rangers in Somalia armor protection because "it wouldnt look right". Thats a leader, instead of doing the right thing, he would rather try to look good then protect American lives.
Clintons incompetance killed people unnecessarily both times.
An easy man to despise if you have a brain and have learned to use it.

Just as Clinton let certain industries do whatever they wanted which resulted in a runaway economy largely based on illusion.
What goes up, must come down, and the farther up it goes the harder it drops. Hence our last recession

I think its safe to say that any good happening during the Clinton Administration was the direct result of Reagan's policies, and the bad that occurred is due to him being a liberal commie lying POS. For GW, its the reverse - anything bad that happens is directly the fault of Clinton, and any good is due solely to Bush's honest leadership and wise policies.
The world really is just that simple, and you will NEVER, EVER get me to change my mind. Now if you'll excuse me, the 700 Club is about to start.

The world of politics has very little do do with politics anymore.
Even in the campaigns we used to actualy hear the stances that each candidate took on various issues and that was the focus.
Now it just boils down to who can dig up the most horse dung on the other and wooo the press enough to help with the flinging.
Some just seem to know when to hit the showers, while others like Billary just stand around with their fly open babbling. :)

yeager... if he was indeed raping all the children there then that would not be an ATF tax matter now would it?
I think that it could be said that he had sex with at least one 14 year old girlk there... it was not rape except in a statuatory manner tho and... permission was granted by the parents. the girl had also made claims against other men in other circustances too.
I bet he may have had sex with some of the underage women there with the knowing consent of their parents tho. That is bad... it of course, is not reason enough to kill all of the kids to save em tho.
The head of child services in the area had visited several times and claimed that all the davidian children were happy and well adjusted and brighter than most kids their age...
Till the ATF burned em allive that is.

What again was the ATF's motivation for burning the children alive? And how did they accomplish it?

You mean they werent gun hoarding-religous fanatics that threaten all of our safety and freedom???? Wow, the mainstream media sure dropped the ball on this one.
-
oboe... the motive was to get more funding to support the growing of their agency.. it seemed like a good idea at the time... the democrats were in power and the davidians could be painted as a right wing christian group..
Also... the ATF had blundered into lots of bad situations in the past due to their incompetence... to the point that Reagan had tried to disband them... other agencies felt that the ATF were buffoons...
News media were called... It should have been an easy stormtrooper ninja operation and then all the crazy davidians would be shown loaded into paddy wagons and all their "machine guns" and evil looking ordinance could be displayed for the camera with smiling ATF crews standing behind the tons of WMD's
That was of course a fantasy... it was shattered by the davidians taking badly to being shot at by ninjas and fighting back... the ATF got their butts kicked by citizens with hunting rifles and they had to beg to gather their dead and wounded and run away when they ran out of ammo....
This did not sit too well with em and so... being the incompetent and immature idiots that they were... they chased the press away and tried to salvage their wounded pride..
The FBI came in and was "gonna show those yahoos at ATF" but it was too late... they also let their pride get in the way and..
Pride and power allways trump innocent lives in the world of the alphabet soup ninjas.
If you would like to see what happened... an academy award nominated documentary "Waco, the rules of engagement" is out there for you to see..
Again.. If you can't get it... I will lend you my copy.

whitehawk... they were religious fanatics by my defenition... The local sheriff did not find em to be dangerous... he visited many times... tho... not in ninja garb and preceeded by shooting all their dogs and firing at the house and people that came to the door.
The were indeed "hording guns"... although... they probly averaged less guns per capita than their neighbors.... as a neighbor said "this is Texas after all"
There was a slight chance that they weren't current on some firearms taxes... so... the taxmen came...
They (the ATF) were offered days before to come in and search the place for illegal weapons but the ATF new this was a trick to make em look foolish so they called all the media and did the raid instead.
Randy weaver at ruby ridge got his family killed because he may have owed the tax men the $5 fee on having the wood on a shotgun 1/8" too short.

Laz,
Thanks - but I want you to tell me exactly the procedure used by the ATF to incinerate the children. I can't recall specifics, though I thought the press said that the Davidians themselves set their compound on fire to avoid capture.
Is that an incorrect account?
-
no it is not. Or at least... probly not.. the davidians were trapped and choking to death from days of being gassed... their power was out and they had been surviving on colman fuel and gas... they couldn't get out because snipers were shooting at anyone who tried to get out... the negotiator at one point told em that anyone coming out would be shot.
they did pour fuel around the perimiter of one of the walls thinking to light it and escape through the flames... they never got a chance... there was a huge explosion and flash fire caused buy the mixture of cs gas in the air being ignited.. Possibly mistakes were made on both sides but every bit of the fault of escalation of the situation was allways the government. the fire that started was more of an explosion like that at a grainery where dust is susspended and then ignited... incenerary rounds were used by the government... that much is admitted.
I really think that you should see the documentary rather than have me pick and choose parts from it... sufice it to say that it is apparent to everyone that the ATF and FBI were caught in lies every time they opened their mouth. If they will lie like that...
Who are we to believe when some other citizen says.. "that isn't the gun they took from me... " as he is being given a 10 year sentance for not paying a $300 tax?

The way I remeber was the tanks that the ATF used to ram through the compound ruptured a propane tank setting off a fire that went bonkers in minutes, and trapped and killed most of them in an underground bus bunker.

well.. they did run over propane tanks and fuel tanks but the real reason that it blew was a fuel air explossion started with incenerary rounds...
They also kept the fire dept away till the fire was good and out of control.
The documentary shows guys fireing automatic weapons at a group of about 16 who were trying to get out of the inferno. They were riddled with bullets.

or maybe not...
In August, 1999, documents were uncovered which indicated that during the raid on the Branch Davidian compound, the FBI used a limited number of flammable tear gas canisters. This revelation contradicted assertions of the FBI and the Department of Justice that the government had done nothing that could have contributed to the start or spread of the fire. In response, Attorney General Janet Reno appointed a special counsel, former Republican senator John C. Danforth, to reexamine the assault to determine how the fire started and whether there was a cover-up of information implicating law enforcement officials or the Justice Department.
On July 21, 2000, after a 10 month investigation, Danforth issued a preliminary report exonerating the government and its agents. His report concluded that federal agents did not start the fire, direct gunfire at the complex, or improperly employ US armed forces. Danforth assigned responsibility for the tragedy to the Branch Davidians and David Koresh. According to the report, they contributed to the tragedy by refusing to exit the compound during the 51 day standoff, directing gunfire at FBI agents, shooting members of the compound, and ultimately setting the fire that burned the compound down.
Danforth did find, however, that an FBI agent fired three pyrotechnic tear gas rounds at a concrete pit 75 feet from the living quarters of the compound. Although these rounds did not start the fire, government officials did not admit their use until August 1999, more than six years later. Danforth found that this negligence was at best a mishandling of evidence, and at worst a criminal attempt to conceal the truth from investigators.

Hmmm Got a poll? cause there are several that show America feels we have been bs'ed into this war.
Personally that doesnt matter, I was for it before and for it now. I just think the way we are fighting is not the way to win. We need more troops.
2 words. Total war.
We are in the opening stages to a much larger engagement of the exact same type. And we are losing military credibility by not winning decisivly. Its time to draft and rock the middle east. Otherwise China is gonna realize how vulnerable Taiwan is.
