Title: Can somebody explain the materials file?
Post by: Krusty on November 13, 2005, 11:59:58 AM
My 109E is looking a bit glossy, so I'm wondering if anybody can explain how I edit the materials.txt file and how I reduce glossiness.

In the skin viewer (when we get the new one) there is a material feature in the bottom right corner that you can adjust and it will tell you what to put in the materials file.

I've looked at a few, I've never bothered with BMF skins before, so I have no idea what the different things are in the file.

Just play around with it (set to max and view; set to min and view); there seem to be 4 attributes which can be changed.

This is what I ended up with on my P-51b; compare it with the default.

0.400,0.400,0.400,Ambient
0.600,0.600,0.600,Diffuse
0.000,0.000,0.000,Emissive
0.200,0.200,0.200,Specular
20.000,Power

One of them appears to make the plane emit light (Emissive).     :-)
