Hi
Is there a seperate port and starboard and throttle?
Does hardware exist to use it?
If not is it possibly an option?

Not that I know of. :cry The p-38 would be a lot better if there was, but it still is a great plane.

i think you can. if you have and x52 you can set the slider as throttle no. 2, and use the main throttle as no. 1. then you have independent control

That may be true, but there are many different sticks out there and if you don't use the x52.... You would know that better than me Poo. I use the logitrash, but then it is the only stick which fits my hand.

It used to exist. Might find one on e-bay. I know nothing about the quality (probably low since it was low-priced).

Pretty much what you need is 2 additional Axies of control, past rudder and X and Y axis.
Then you pretty much assign One axis to Engine Throttle #1 and another to Engine Throttle #2.
I do have an X45. I know I can do this, however, I don't know how to make it to switch in mid flight if I wanted.

I use two throttles with an x52 , it really doesnt help as much as you might think . It's great for hammer heads , but thats about it .

The SunCom stick combo will not work in XP and since SunCom is out of business I don't think there will be any XP drivers soon.
CH Products sells a dual and quad throttle system that can be used to control the multi-engine planes in the game.
For those that have the USB Pro Throttle, there is a script that allows differential throttle control with the mini-stick.
But as 38MAW mentioned, it really doesn't give you an edge over another player that doesn't use one. I used to use a SunCom dual throttle for a bit but after a couple of months went back to my Pro Throttle. YMMV.

I have one of those Suncom Throttles (same throttle as in the above link, no stick with it). Got it to work with WinXP using a USB adapter (throttle axes only, no buttons register), and it wound up being more of a pain than a benefit. I just use the single throttle on my stick and use the keybd to toggle engine controls.

Thansk guys! I allraedy have an X52 I will set it up. I will be out of town so I cant try it till Thursday. I am dissapointed to hear it only seems to be effective in hammerheads. I have been told that in the pacific fighting Zero's you used the throttles and rudders heavily, anyone?

There area a lot of people who know this game and gaming in general, a lot better than I do. I have flown the P-38 in life, though it has been many years ago and was NOT in the Pacific, nor even in combat. I guess the modeling of the plane in the game is not set up to use it as I know it. Even though I didn't train in acrobatics, we did play around a little with it. Yes, for sharp turns and some maneuvers the rudder, throttles and flaps played a big part. In the game, flaps can't be used when you are over 200, so that is out anyway. That leaves you with only the rudder. Even with these deficiencies, it is still one nice ride. About the only other bird I flew, which could show up in here, was the P-61. Now, that was a monster!

Another solution which I have used is to have buttons mapped to select engine 1, select engine2, and select all engines. This allows one throttle to control either engine or both engines. The default setting, of course, is all engines selected.

I was told pilots actually hurt airframes. Have you ever heard of that? I am surprised how well the early planes do in the games. Where was LA-7 active?

In the game, the first notch of flaps will deploy at 250.
