Title: Control input lag
Post by: gear on November 14, 2005, 08:00:26 PM: I've been getting a real serious lag on the controll input.
When I move the any of the control inputs there is a 2 to 4 second delay before anything happens.

Post by: Krusty on November 14, 2005, 08:09:10 PM: First go to clipboard, setup, controls, joystick, and get the screen up that shows the axis. See if there's a lag in the square box that shows current input. If there is, it could be a windows problem or a joystick problem.

I would try in the Windows calibration screen, under start, control panel, gameport (or is it under gamepad? It's easy to spot) and then select the test screen (not the calibrate). Move it around, see if there is, in fact, a lag. If there is, then try new drivers, or reinstall current drivers. Perhaps the device itself is going south, and needs to be replaced. If you have an old, cheap, spare stick try it as well. It the spare has no problems then I guess it's the device. If they both do it's something in Windows. Try removing and selecting a new one from scratch.

EDIT: ***D'OH!!***

You mean when you move the stick your CONNECTION lags??

Please clarify. I thought you meant you move the stick and it takes 2-3 secs for the input to reach the plane's control surfaces.

Okay, so it does lag the controls (not the ping). I got a little confused when I later realized your image looked like the net graph.

Does it only lag in AH or in Windows, as well?

Post by: Krusty on November 14, 2005, 08:55:16 PM: Okay then it's an AH problem. Check that your dampening slider isn't 100%. Check that deadband isn't 100%. If you can, reset the controls to default inside AH, and try that. See if the roll pitch and yaw all are affected the same or not.

Post by: Skuzzy on November 15, 2005, 04:14:14 PM: Actually, if input is lagging, and judging ny the variance (which appears to be all over the place), then your computer looks ot be swapping like crazy, or some application is actively running in background chewing up CPU time.

How much RAM does your computer have? Also, how many processes are listed in the task manager? What video settings are you using for Aces High II?

Post by: Skuzzy on November 15, 2005, 04:37:51 PM: You have to have something running in background or Windows cannot boot. XP normally has 19 to 21 processes. How many are in your task manager list under the "Processes" tab (total count is on the lower left corner).
The variance line is indicating something is chewing up CPU cycles like crazy.

What video settings are you using in Aces High II (in video setup, all of them)?

Post by: Mace2004 on November 16, 2005, 06:32:41 PM: I've got an X-45 with USB and have seen something similar but not recently. I found that by unplugging and replugging the USB port fixes the problem. You might give it a try.

Post by: gear on November 16, 2005, 07:51:24 PM: I've rebooted the system and reloaded the drives for the X45 and that seems to have fixed the problemfor now .
