Hiya;
Yanno .. it's been said life is like a bowl of cherries.
Been gone awhile from this genre.. purty much been gone from everywhere awhile since Everquest captured my game time.
I decided awhile ago to 'get out' of the video game 'bidness' ..too many start-ups, no-talent suit-dweeb wannabe's, mountains of frustration, long hours, living out of apartments, moving every 2 years average ..man it felt like bein in the service!
So, did some research; federal demand, job security, minimal moving around, shortest school time to viable career position, and of course, where's the MONEY! Then I networked a bit, talked to some in the career field, researched a bit more on job satisfaction and opportunities.
So wife and I went to minimum outgo, cleared the deck, battened all the hatches, hoisted up the landlubbers, and been livin the 'college student' life.. again.. for the last couple years.
In March of next year I will graduate and be a Licensed Practical Nurse.
A year after that I will be an RN.. and from there prolly Telemetry, Operating Room, ..I dunno .. will prolly find a hole somewhere an fill it.
First clinical last year, 3 hours in, got offered a job at that facility.
Seems I have a 'knack' for it ..the whole 'team' thing in a job that makes a difference in people's lives ..I haven't felt that since workin the EOR with 6 F-4's outbound to help our guys during the Fall of Saigon.
Tickles me a bit.. 34 folks in class.. 3 guys.
I am literally surrounded by Boobs.
No.. really.
( . ) ( . ) <--those kind.
-evil grin-
I am hopin to join you guys in the arena again when I get outta 'school mode' .. seems most nursing jobs are three 12hr shifts with 4 days off.
Yassir .. every weekend is a 4-day ;)
And ..I will make enough to actually do stuff .. again ;)
(thinkin '68 cuda project car ..572 crate Hemi .. daily driver ..coupla years)
I will try an stop by more to see what's happenin in Aces High.
Can't wait to try out Tour of Duty ..sounds like a blast ;)

Congrats, but do continue to get your RN license as you mentioned above...LPNs make squat compared to RN's, and you'll always have a job as an RN...

Congrats and good luck. Remember that burnout is a constant threat to your new profession. Stay alert to it and make sure you take steps to maintain your perespective.
The Daughter has gone back to school for the same reason. It takes a really big person to stepo up and take care of others.
