It accepts 1920x1080 progressive through the HDMI port from my 6800GT. AH never looked so good.

It is a DLP and TVA.com (TV Authority) in Santa Monica will ship you one for $1000 less than that price with free shipping if you register to the AVSForum.com :D The 65" is $800 more.

I've never been happy with the contrast on rear projection tv's. All that I've seen are also limited in viewing angle. Especially when viewed from higher position (such as standing in front of the tv) the image gets matte-like and dull.
Are these new ones any better on those?

MUCH MUCH BETTER!
First,
It isn't exactlly a traditional rear projection tv. Plus, you have never seen a tv output 1920x1080 Progressive. The picture and the blacks are at least as good as any plasma that I have seen. The viewing angle is excellent horizontilly and much better vertically than previous models. It is best to go look at one if you can find one on display. I bought it sight unseen after reading this forum since no one in Hawaii carries it yet.

The AVS forum has all the info you will ever need about Home Theater.

DLPs don't actually have a response time. Don't ask me how it works but its is called wobulation. I have not seen any motion artifacts or ghosting yet in movies or Aces High. There are also no worries about screen burn-in as occurs with plasma. These sets don't suffer from SDE (screen door effect) as my LCD RPTV does. I sit 8 feet from it but can't see it at 1 foot either. So far, no RBE (rainbows).
The only problem with AH is losing some vertical real estate with a widescreen resolution such as in the above picture. In that shot I had modified the video cong file to 1920x1080 and there is no stretching but I lose a little sky and the lower part of the panel. Notice the ammo counter and bottom instrument row are cut off. Not so with the same head position and a 4:3 res. I am running AH @ 1280x1024 for gameplay and usually stretch to fit. My desktop res is 1920x1080 progressive.

If I had that plus my TIR 6DOF, I could make most of my family puke their turkey dinners out this Thrusday :)
