This card is at Best buy on Black Friday for 99 after rebate. I am getting one to upgrade from my 3 year old radeon 9700 pro.
I have had good luck with the BF sales at Best buy for vid cards.
2000 Geforce 3 extasy for 99 bucks
2002 Ati radeon 9700 pro 150 after rebate
I wonder how much eye candy I will gain. I figure I can run 1280 X 1024 with 4X FSAA :)

I would read some reviews on the card first. They perform like a 9800 pro , which isnt a real big increase over what you have now . I'm pretty sure that 4xAA is going to put a hurtin on that card , 4X really makes my x800pro work @that res , 38

After coolbits unscrewed the 100mhz factory setting (restored to 375/600), and I disabled every power saving scheme I could find. I've been running at "2Q" AA, all details near maxed, getting a constant 59 fps, which is the refresh rate of my notebook screen with a 128M 6600go.
The x700 is on par with the 6600, I believe, so you should see some improvement.
You can try "Cinebench" and compare your current card/machine with others, its freeeeeeeee.

from what ive read the 6600gt truely stomps on the x700pro. And as far as 2X AA goes , the X700 will run that ok, my old 9800pro ran 2x without issue . 4X is a whole nuther story thou. I'm kinda anal when it comes to playable frame rates , with 4XAA 1280x1024 default ingame settting with 512 textures , i do notice a hickup when the video memory thrashes textures , and to me that is unacceptable even thou the frame rate is 80+ ....

ordered it online today. I figure I should see some benefits and for only 100 dollars not a big deal, and best buy has a great return policy.
