I have no idea what aircraft we have that did this role, but it would be great to have the smoke rockets for some of our birds for the forward air control role.
I know one of my favorite sorties to fly is to up a rather light Ar234 and spot GVs for my squaddies who are also in GVs or JABO fighters
Just an idea, thank you!

WWII did not see FACs that i know of. that was a vietnam thing. there was artillery spotting aircraft such as the german owl or american grasshopper. they were also used for tactical recon. but no FACs, sorry.

USAAF 9th AF used pilots as temporary forward controllers, it wasnt a popular job

snip from Pyro back in 2001:
Fi 156- I think it'd be a lot of fun to fly with such a radically different flight envelope. It could be useful for artillery spotting when working out of a vehicle base.

Fi 156, maybe Piper L-4? :)
Artillery, gv spotting, fun stuff. I'd fly it! SYSTEM: octavius landed 4 kills in Fi-156
I know WP (white phosphorous) rounds were used in arty shells, mixed with rubber or polystyrene. Any WP find its way into rockets?

I'm all for adding new reasons to add new aircraft types. This will add extra dimensions to the game. I've used YAKs and IL2s to spot vehicles for my buddies on the ground.
If HTC could allow downed pilots to get lifts from aircraft or GVs then there's an opportunity for lighter planes (e.g. Fi Storch, Lysander) or even smaller faster vehicles (Jeep, 15cwt, Kubelwagon) to pick 'em up. Maybe they can reclaim some perks too to encourage bailing out rather than /ef.
It doesn't much of a change to me to add this nice little 'rescue' feature.
- maybe an ambulance to 'heal' a downed wounded pilot - or two?
