Title: a good
Post by: easymo on September 26, 2001, 02:07:00 AM
laugh at my expense.

I talked to Mrs. Easymo about the possibility of drowning myself in grecian formula and trying to sneak back into the Army.

With out so much as a smile, she said.
My Father is a world war two vet.
My father-in-law is a Korean war vet.
My husband is a Viet Nam vet.
I know a soldier when I see one.  And you ain't it.  She turned on her heel and walked away.

Mean old squeak.  She really isn't the boss of me.  But she has always been smarter then me.  Guess i'll be watching this one on T.V.

You don't become Vet before joining service, only after. You'd be very surprised how basic can change you. It sure changed me.(Not much thou)

Somewhat related: USAF retirees are now allowed to join the Active Reserves if you've been retired less than 5 years and meet physical standards. Going on 6   :(

BTW.  My sneaking back into the Army isn't as farfetched as it might seem. I snuk in the last time.  I had crushed my 4th lumbar vertebra, and blown out the disc above and below it in an accident before I inlisted the last time.  Had they known how much pain I was in, going through basic, they would never had let me stay.

I have no illusions about being an infantrymen. Hell, I'm 54. But it takes several support troops to field one infantrymen.  I could hold some ones coat.

Anyway, the army recruiter said they would have my fingerprints on file.  They would catch me.  So I'm screwed.

ASVAB = armed services vocational aptitude battery

A multiple choice test on many subjects that is used to place you in a career field.

Vader, I'm a navy reservist, inactive.  I was a HM2(FMF).  Was stationed with the 3rd Marines out in Hawaii for most of my 5.5 years on active duty.  I enjoyed it.  It's tough on you physically and fun doing all the training the Marines do.

Private message me (http://www.hitechcreations.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=private_message&u=00001583) if you have any questions about the HM rating.

"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed... yada yada!"
Maybe we can start an over 50 militia and they will die laughing.   :D

I can add: bad eyesight, bad knees, pot belly, bad back, but intense desire.  :)

"my scores on asvab were in the 98% across the board"

Obviously there wasn't a typing test.  Does your PC not have a shift key on the keyboard, Vader?   :D
