Im not sure if this has already been mentioned or not.
Viewed from certain angles the spitfires look like they are black rimmed on the wings or even totally black. Again im not sure, but i think its all models.

They did away with the headrest early on, sometime during the Spit V run I believe.
Note it's not in evidence in this photo of a 41 Squadron pilot on the wing of his Spit XIV
